OneRepublic: Life in Color Meaning
Life in Color Lyrics
I do my best
To find some kind of glow
I'm givin' it some heart and soul, now
From the darkest grays
The sun bursts, clouds break
Yeah, we see that fire
From the streets of Babylon
To the road that we've been on...

#1 top rated interpretation:Considering the title, and the joyous beat of the song, I have two theories. First, it may be about slowly realizing how beautiful the world is. After all, it mentions al the little things that make the world complete.
"I do my best to find some kind of glow."
Meaning he is trying hard to find a light of goodness in our world with so much misery.
"Yeah we see that fire, From the streets of Babylon, to the road that we've been on"
Meaning there is a fire of light in our dark and cold world, and he is finding it on the "road" or path of life.
"This is life in color, today feels like no other from the darkest grays, to sun bursts clouds break."
He is saying how wonderful the good part of life is, and he is saying how once he was in the darkest grays, but now the sun is bursting into his life and the clouds are passing. There is more meaning to life now. -
I think it might be about learning how to find joy in life after depression or having seen the world as a dull or dreary and boring place to live. I have gone through bouts of sadness and depression, and the only way out was to trust God and see the colorful no I'm the small things or what I previous never paid any kind to.

It means living life to the fullest and getting the most out of life. It means not taking for granted your life and that every day above ground is a great one.

I think it means that it's about two things. It could be about the singer's life was dismal and "the darkest grays" but then his life got better, "just when I could run this race no more". It also might be about his life getting when he meets someone, "you've seen my worst, and yet you have some hope in me, yeah" and they help him.

My second theory is that it's about coming out of the closet. As a closeted non heterosexual, life is dark and the world seems brutal. Without the closet blocking off the good and joyous parts of life, you can start to truly appreciate the world for how it is, and how not all people hate you, there are good people out there who can make a difference and be the fire in your darkest grays.

Someone enjoying life out of the closet. After all, it's life in color!
