OneRepublic: Gonna Give Up All My Secrets Meaning
Gonna Give Up All My Secrets Lyrics
Something to get off my chest
My life gets kinda boring
Need something that I can confess
'Til all my sleeves are stained red
From all the truth that I've said
Come by it honestly I swear
Thought you saw me wink,...

I think this dong is about a magician who is tired of all the "hush hush" policies he is forced to adhere to by other magicians. He is going to risk his popularity by giving out his trade secrets so that everyone knows how the tricks are done, so no one can get an over-inflated ego and think they are better than others, just because they know some magic tricks.

I think the song is about a highschooler who is very smart, and is interested in things that usually bore highschoolers. For this reason, he/she gets picked on for being a "geek," or a "nerd." So, he/she turns to gosspiping in order to become popular. Fortunally for him/her, his/her wish comes true, mostly due to the fact that she starts rumors that are based off true stories. However, he/she eventually has no ideas nor stories to help him/her start rumors. Meanwhile some students are creating rumors about him/her winking at someone, and even though it seems innocent, he/she knows that they'll use it to destroy his/her reputation. As the lyrics decribe, "thought you saw me wink, no I've been on the brink." At first he/she still refuses to show his/her true colors, for the lyrics affirm that, "I need another story Something to get off my chest my life is kind of boring, need something I can confess." This desire grows so big, that she even considers becoming violent, just so he/she can have a true story to tell everyone. As the lyrics expresses,"til' all my sleeves are stained red, from all the truth I have said." Thankfully he/she realizes he/she is being ridiculous, and gives up by pondering, "my God, amazing how we got this far it's like we're chasing all those stars
who's driving shiny big black cars." Then he/she realizes that just because he/she has gotten famous, doesn't mean his/her life is successful, "And everyday I see the news all the problems we could solve." So he/she uses his/her popularity to be himself/herself and to help others,Oh, got no reason, got no shame got no family I can blame Just don't
let me disappear I'm going to tell you everything." (Correct me if you think any parts of this inerpretation is wrong.) -
First off, the song is actually "secrets".
It's about finding someone you would trust with your life and confiding in them. Telling them your greatest fears, hopes, dreams, and worries so they can help you.
