Paramore: Ignorance Meaning
Song Released: 2009
Ignorance Lyrics
You don't like me
Well I guess I'll
Make my own way
It's a circle
A mean cycle
I can't excite you anymore
Where's your gavel, your jury?
What's my offense this time?
You're not a judge but if you're gonna judge...

#1 top rated interpretation:It's about Hayley feeling like she no longer knew the band. They canceled the 2008 Uk Riot tour because the band were having problems and this song is all about how the falling out made Hayley feel. She felt like she was an outsider and she no longer fit in. 'The friends who stuck together we wrote our names in blood but I guess you can't except that the change is good' refers to the band being best friends but growing apart as they grew up.

#2 top rated interpretation:It is exactly how JazzyD599 said. It is about how she felt when the band almost broke up. They all were more and more distant to the band, everyone started to do his own thing and didn't care for each other "You treat me just like another stranger".
Thank God they reconciled it :) -

#3 top rated interpretation:Im not sure, but I think this song is about a friendship. like, two friends have changed and one doesn't want to accept that, and she's upset. She can't take that theyre not the same anymore, and so she chooses not to believe it. ex: ignorance is your new best friend. That's what I thought, anyway.

This is probably gonna sound really stupid, but when I hear this song, I think about all the anger I have for some people. And, that's what I think this song's about. Anger. Sorry if this seems wrong but I gotta explain what I mean:
"If I'm a bad person, you don't like me.
Well I guess I'll make my own way.
It's a circle, a mean cycle.
I can't excite you anymore."
(To me, this is talking about how sometimes people view you as being a horrible person unjustly. And then going through that over and over.)
"Where's your gavel? Your jury?
What's my offense this time?
You're not a judge, but if you're gonna judge me, well, sentence me to another life."
(To me, this is basically saying that you shouldn't judge without proper evidence, because if you are accusing a innocent person it's hurtful)
"I don't wanna hear your sad songs.
I don't wanna feel your pain.
When you swear it's all my fault, 'cause you know we're not the same, not the same, oh we're not the same.
Yeah, the friends who stuck together, we wrote our names in blood, but I guess you can't accept that the change is good, it's it's good."
(To me, this is about how you don't want to hear about how bad they feel you've made them when they've made you feel loads worse. Then, it says how drastically you feel things have changed.)
Well you treat me just like another stranger
Well it's nice to meet you sir
I guess I'll go
I best be on my way out
You treat me just like another stranger
Well it's nice to meet you sir
I guess I'll go
I best be on my way out
Ignorance is your new best friend
Ignorance is your new best friend
(To me, this is self-explanatory)
This is the best thing that could've happened
Any longer and I wouldn't have made it
It's not a war no, it's not a rapture
I'm just a person but you can't take it
(To me, this is about sometimes you have to let go of something because it has been hurting you, even though you don't want to, and how the person against you can't change your mind.)
The same tricks that, that once fooled me
They won't get you anywhere
I'm not the same kid from your memory
Well now I can fend for myself
(To me, this is about how what made you think that they had good intentions and tricked you can't make you feel that way anymore.) -
i thought the song was about how hayley was getting more attention in the band than everyone else, which is why she was always holding the lightbulb in the video, and then at the end she was tied up in it
(This is the best thing that could've happened/Any longer and I wouldn't have made it...i'm just a person but you cant take it)
it seemd like it was from the guy's point of view, which sparked her song Playng God,in which the guys were all under the flashlight
i could be wrong, but thats what i was told. -
I think this song is referred to an ex, or just anybody, that constantly judged her for the way she is and she wouldn't accept her for who she was and she got tired of it so now she's telling him/her that it's best to just go her on way because she wasn't gonna change, that she was gonna defend herself. Pretty much that that person was ignorant and only thought her opinion counted.
-
this one is about the band going through a phase where the other band members were annoyed at hayley because the media saw paramore as just hayley, ignoring all the other members of paramore, they took this out on hayley because she never corrected the media in putting paramore as a whole group and not just her. the band referred to her as though she was doing it intentionally to create more fame for herself, think about it, when someone says paramore, you automatically think of hayley, other than Zac or Jeremy. the band were on the verge of breaking up when hayley basically said with this song that if they are that annoyed with her then she will quit the band and go solo, leaving paramore as a band, but the fact that they were such close friends at one point and they all turned on her made her feel like she was a stranger they bumped into in the street
-
This song was written about Hayley's feelings when the band was not doing well at all. It was written when the band was about to break up and it just talks about how Hayley felt when it was all happening
-
The song was written from Hayley's point of view about the guys in the band(josh, jeremy, zac and I don't nkow about taylor). But it's about them not being able to accept the changes that paramore has been going through along with the new album, and she's ready to move on, while the boys are still hanging on to old paramore.
-
On an interview Hayley said she wrote this song in her point of view. It's about how Hayley doesn't fell important in the band. And since she is always with dudes, she felt they didn't care about her as much because she is girl.
-
I was watching on youtube, Hayley explained the song was written during the time the band was about to break-up. She said the song gives an insight on everything she felt. When she presented it to the guys the first time she was very nervous. She didn't want them to know it was written about them. The guitarist soon got the hint and called her out on it while they wrote the music.
