Phil Collins: Easy Lover Meaning
Song Released: 1985
Easy Lover Lyrics
She'll get a hold on you believe it
Like no other
Before you know it you'll be on your knees
She's an easy lover
She'll take your heart but you won't feel it
She's like no other
And I'm just trying to make you see
She's the kind of...
-
A free spirit...she goes where the wind blows in all aspects of life.
It would be foolish to try and rein her in. -
I agree with the post above: the "she" in this song is cocaine.
-
When sitting in my car, after a hard day's work my now girl friend, and soon to be my exgirl-friend of 20 years says, "Oh, that's my favorite song...easy lover she'll get your heart but you won't feel it...", smiling as she sang, opened the car door and got out. Then suddenly as if a fog lifted 20 years of deceitful behavior, came flooding back as if Mr Collins and Mr Baily were talking to me all along but i didn't listen.
Girls like her will lead with sex, to draw you in. Their intention is to fill their emotional bathtub with your rotting corps. They cant be alone with themselves too long, why its because they can't stand themselves. That kind of personality is distracting and selfish, your career will suffer, she will isolate your from friend and family just to keep you near so they can unload, think of yourself as an empty cup she will fill it with her problems and issues to a point where you suffer from stress. When you leave here she thinks of you as some kind of possession.
So free yourself from that emotional grip, or before you know it you'll be on your knees. - Codependent. -
The Easy Lover is an emotional manipulator. And I'm just trying to make you see.
-
I believe this song refers to cocaine
-
It's an anti-drug song
-
He is trying to warn a friend of the woman he potentially is seeing or pursuing. The lyrics implies that the girl of interest has some serious baggage, and would not make a satisfying partner...the relationship will not end well, so don't commit too much to it.
