Red: Let it Burn Meaning
Let it Burn Lyrics
These dreams like ashes float away
Your voice I never heard
Only silence
Where were you when our hearts were bleeding
Where were you when it all crashed down
Never thought that you'd deceive me
Where are you...

#1 top rated interpretation:The song is a self examination.
The song cannot be about God because God is faultless. It is about failing personally. Whether or not you have the will to fight to get your life together or to just walk away and let it burn.

#2 top rated interpretation:I think part of it kind of relates to when Israel was in idolatry and were taken into captivity by the Babylonians. God hides His face from their sin (in Ezekiel, He even states how even His temple has been defiled with idols), but does not abandon His people.
"How long?" How long will Israel have to endure their suffering due to their rejection of God and their evil practices (scoffing the poor; ripping people off; cannibalism; child sacrifices; occultic practices... the list goes on)? Also very similar to passages found in places such as Habakkuk 1:2
"I watch this city burn" is relating to when Israel was burnt to the ground (the book of Lamentations states the whole description of it).
It also relates to the persecution of the early church Christians/saints, as you can read in Revelations 6:10, majority of whom was or are today, led to even martyrdom for their testimony in Christ.
So basically, this song can be summed up to be one about long-suffering and persecution for their faith in Christ.
Now, I know quite alot of people will state, "Why does everybody have to imply some religious content to the meaning of songs?"
Well, first off, THIS IS a Christian band, even if their songs don't always have doctrinal statements or are worship songs.
Second, this can relate to any form of persecution, but mainly, by reading the lyrics in full, it is very Biblical in the fact that aspects of the lyrics are taken from Scriptural passages, therefore, this song implies one that is relevant to the Babylonian captivity of Israel, and persecution of the Christian faith. :) -

#3 top rated interpretation:I think this song is questioning God and his
indifference to his people. "Is your world just a broken promise? Is your love just a drop of rain?" could mean that God didn't help when his people needed him the most. -
This song could be about so many things. It just depends on how you interpret it.

I thought they were just insulting Satan telling him he's a coward.

This song is about breaking your addictions to stand up to anything the devil tries to put in your way just let it burn the lyrics say How long will you stand the pain How long will you hide your face How long will be afraid then Jesus tells you LET IT BURN
