The Outside Lyrics

What if I'm not the same
What if I never let go of the blame
What if you drag me back again
What if I would let you just pretend
I erase this memory
I escape this gravity
Is that how I used to be
Is that the price of my identity

I'm...

Hmmm, everyone struggles with their inner demons, we believe we are one individual, but in reality, life makes us many different people based on experiences, light and darkness exist with all of us, to cling to one is to be liable to be corrupted by it, find balance in the light and the shadow.

I could see this being about turning to god after sinning and trying to start over after being lied to by satan.

My personal thoughts on this would be about addiction. I know we hear this on every one of these sites but thats how I see it and here's why... "What if I'm not the same What if I never let go of the blame What if you drag me back again What if I would let you just pretend" Is him questioning if he can go back to who he was before addiction. Then... I erase this memory I escape this gravity Is that how I used to be Is that the price of my identity". Is him talking about how addiction allowed him to escape his problems. Finally when he says"I'm standing on the outside I'm looking in on what you can't hide I'm dying on the inside
Cause now I can see your lies from the outside". Is him accepting he had an addiction and is moving past it. Yes it's long but hey It's my opinion so it can be.

I think that this is a person who sided with Satan and then went over to God and is now looking back at the things that he did and how evil Satan is from "the outside".
