Jessie's Girl Lyrics
I know he's been a good friend of mine
But lately something's changed
That ain't hard to define
Jessie's got himself a girl
And I want to make her mine
And she's watching him with those eyes
And she's lovin'...

This song has recently become one that's been in my head and i've been listening to it a lot lately because I've fallen in love with a girl who has a boyfriend. Every single line in the song is accurate. Rick Springfield is singing about a man who has fallen in love with his friends lover and everything they do together cuts him in a deep level. the way she looks at him, the idea of them in eachother's arms at night, he wants her so badly but can't have her because of the unfortunate circumstance. sad.

Some people say that it's a happy song or rather a sad song. I personally don't know what to think of it, even though I LOVE it! I think this song is about a guy or who falls in love with his bestfriend, Jessie's girl! But not only does he fall in love with Jessie's girl, but he also falls in love with the fact that they're a very peaceful & calm couple, meaning that they never fight or argue! But this also bothers him because he had a really bad history with getting girls because they'd end up fighting and arguing with him! In the end, he's in a concert singing the song and when he's finished, he notices in the far back of the audience that Jessie & his girl are sitting down together watching him sing. Jessie's girl looks like she's ready to break up with Jessie to be with him! Who knows?

According to Rick's notes in his Anthology "Written In Rock." The thought for Jessie's girl started when he was in a stained glass class and he met a guy named Gary and his girlfriend who made him weak in the knees. He began having fantasies about her and knew that they'd never be together.
Rick was wearing a Rams T-shirt with Ron Jessie's name on it one day and that's where the mispelling came from. Jessie's Girl was originally called, "Randy's Girl."
So there's the real story people. Take it from me
