You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:"BRAVE" is about facing bullying. I think it's about you needing to stand up for yourself and show everyone the real "YOU"
"Nothing's gonna hurt to the way the words do," is saying that if you be confident and stand up for yourself, you will know they can't hurt you They can't break you.
"Or you can be the backlash of somebody's lack of love, or you can start speaking up ." Is kinda saying that you've been hurt and what you are now is a result of that hate. It is saying at the end that you can stand up, wipe yourself off and keep going and speak up.It is basically (in summary) saying that if you've been bullied you can help. You can speak up. And if you ee something you can tell or speak up for that person. -

#2 top rated interpretation:Be brave and speak your truth, even if you’re afraid. This song helped me end my abusive marriage.

Ok thank u because my music teacher she showed us this song and it made me think about my great grandma that passed away and my great granddad and it made me cry but the part that makes me cry the most is when you say you can be a outcast that makes me cry because I always think I ‘m and it’s not just about my grandmother and grandfather it also about what people think and what I think and also thank u and u have to stick up for yourself but always know there’s always going to be that one hater that hates on you and I know it going to get annoying but whenever they do something just ignore them don’t answer them that’s just going to make it worse but thank u again Sara

I think this song has so much meaning it’s really wonderful so let’s get down to it.
You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or drug.
This means you could be so much mor than you think you are.
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love.
This means you aren’t like them and that’s good but you keep finding people to treat you like crap.
Or you can start speaking up
This means you should speak your mind.
Nothings gonna hurt you the way that words do when they settle neath your skin
This means that everybody’s an asshole and you just got to ignore them so that they don’t control you.
Kept on they inside and no sunlight sometimes a shadow wins
This means that sometimes they ignore you instead of being little bitches and sometimes that hurts more.
The chorus is saying that no matter what you have to speak up for yourself.
Everybody’s been there, everybody’s been stared down by the enemy
This means everyone has a bully and demons but you can’t give in to yours.
Fallen for the fear and dines some disappearing.
This means that you have to stop hiding in the dark.
Bow down to the mighty
But don’t run, stop holding your tongue.
This means that you can’t bow down to their will. No matter what you can’t run. And again, speak up for yourself.
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
This means that whatever’s holding you back, you can break free.
Maybe one of these days you can let the lights in
This means that you have to find a way to be happy.
Show me how big your brave is
This means show me how you do standing up for yourself.
Innocence, your history is silence won’t do you any good. Did you think it would?
This means that you never did anything for yourself and never spoke up and you shouldn’t have held your tongue.
Let your words be anything but empty why don’t you tell them the truth.
It means have meaning and truth behind your words
No sorry this was long but, this song is just so full of meaning. And besides that it’s just a really beautiful song

The song was written by Bareilles and Jack Antonoff from the band fun., as the singer was inspired from the struggles that a close friend dealt with in regard to coming out as gay.

I think this song is so special to me but when the producer came in the bathroom they checked the sound check with me and joe do the vocals but we’re going to be great vocalists to be careful with and to practice our music and production and also filming.

You can chose after being bullied: become a bully, get revenge, or become the one who stands up to the bullies. The later is the hardest to do, but the best in the long run for everyone.
-
It means to stand up for yourself or you will be taken advantage of your whole life
