i think this song is about a girl/boy who is hurting who pushes everyone away and i really relate to this song as the girl fake smiles everywhere she goes as she doesnt want to seem weak and need help cause she knows she will get over her emotions and doesnt want to worry the people around her so she doesnt bother showing her emotions cause its easier to hide them. Shawn shows how the girl hides as she 'tells herself it will be ok' she doesnt notice how shawn (or any person doesnt matter) notices her hurting but shawn could also be referring this song to himself. this song overall is amazing and i love it cause its so relatable.

Okay, I want to say that this is open it interpritation (is that spelled right idk), and everyones is right (including that girl who says shes Shawns Ex). However I have a (at least to me) a unique veiw, not as the girl but as the guy (in this case I guess Shawn). Also side note, I call him Shwn because I acctualy go to school with his sister (first person I met in grade 9 "Head-start", but didn't find out until this December (because I am stupid and couldn't put togther the two last names), However I don't have any of his acctual thought. Anyways so I knew a girl and we went to overnight camp together for two weeks and I grew to love her in a way that I would have done anything to help her. She had a lot of problems from anxity to panic attacks ticks (tureets), which caused me a shit ton of anxity. One of the elast conversations we had (after camp, we had been texting for four hours (it was 2 am), she said that no matter what i couldn't help because she was "broken". One dayI found out she loved this songand instanty I knew its meaning. So yes, the girl is afraod and doesn' think she can go on. She lives her life fooling everyone but Shawn (or who ever the guy/girl s) knows what she is going through and is tellingher that it will be okaywill be okay okay because shes just ike everyone else. Sorry about the probably coppy writing of the second helf, Icantswhat I wrote so I can't fix or be surof of what i am writing, i just deleted a shit tone of unknown letters buti hope you can read this.

He means this from two point of views. Both from mine and his point of view. So this song is about how I was going through something and Shawn was the only one who knew about it. And how he was secretly battling depression and no one knowing about it. He's saying in this song everything gets better, and even though people may seem strong and happy doesn't always mean they are.
Shawn's Ex -
Shawn is arguably talking about himself. But instead of putting it in the perspective of Shawn being the one who is hurt, he talks about a girl who is in a position she cannot handle. He's trying to reassure her, and himself that everything sometimes does get a little too much, but we have to realize that feeling is only temporary. Shawn had always said that this song really hit home for him, and that he held it very close to his heart. Whether or not we get a true explanation to the song, we can all agree this song is very meaningful in its own way.

I think that Shawn is talking about girls that are trying so hard to be someone that they're not. I believe that he's trying to say that girls don't need to change who they are because they don't love themselves and want to be someone that is 'perfect'.
