Taylor Swift: Anti-Hero Meaning
Song Released: 2022
Anti-Hero Lyrics
I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser
Midnights become my afternoons
When my depression works the graveyard shift
All of the people I've ghosted stand there in the room
I should not be left to my own devices
They...

I think there are two interpretations to this.
1: everyone thinks that she is nothing/worthless/ugly when she actually isn’t. She is collapsing from all of this criticism, as no human can be ok from years of being thought of as the bad guy, even though she is probably not. ‘Anti hero’ in this song is relating to the “cuties/hotties” being the ones everyone wants to hang out with, and in spite, Taylor Swift calls them the ‘Anti hero’, as she is also a good person too, and more than an outcast. If they would just look past the clouds surrounding this mysterious Taylor Swift, they would know. I also think that when she says “I always look directly at the sun but never in the mirror” means that she even is too afraid to look at herself, because of all the mean things people say, and just looks at the sun for hope and admiration from someone else, when she should really love herself and not seek validation.
2: She is down on herself and thinks that all the bad things that happen are because of her, and while people think she’s the hero in all of this, she either isn’t, or she thinks she isn’t, and she’s letting that cloud what she does, and maybe make mistakes that are actually her fault. She is beginning to not care and fall/is in depression because of this massive guilt and fear.
The reason why I am so thorough is because 1, I am educating you on the importance of getting help, and what comes with depression and anxiety, and 2, because I have went through some of these experiences myself. I know what it’s like to feel like everyone is bailing on you or thinking you are a failure.
Anyways, thank you to anyone who reads this, and to anyone who is having a rough day, trust in the Lord, and I hope you have a great day ❤️
