   I think Taylor wrote this song about a couple who was so in love but they broke up (probably the girl broke up with the guy because it says "with the broken heart you left me" talking to the girl) but after they broke up they were still so in love with each other but never told each other. The boy was so heart broken and couldn't take it so he killed himself ("his goodbye note.") this a very beautiful but sad song written by Taylor and I'm compleatly in love with it.

   i Believe this song is about a boy and a girl who used to be a couple but they broke up. and the boy was very heart broken an he killed himself- referring to the "goodbye note". hope this helps xx

   I thought it was about this couple who broke up, even though they were still in love. (It sounds like the girl broke up with the guy, so maybe she didn't know she loved him, I don't know.) Anyway, they still love each other, but don't know how/are afraid to tell each other. In the end I thought the guy had killed himself because the 'goodbye note' I took to be a suicide note because he was so in love with the girl, and he just couldn't take it anymore.
