Taylor Swift: The Moment I Knew Meaning
Song Released: 2012
The Moment I Knew Lyrics
Should've burst through the door,
With that 'baby I'm right here' smile,
And it would've felt like,
A million little shining stars had just aligned
And I would've been so happy.
Christmas lights glisten,
...

My interpretation might not be the right one, but here it goes: I believe it's about Taylor who is in a relationship where she thinks everything is going good. She is having doubts sometimes, but he keeps saying he'll be there for her. But when the time comes and she really really needed/wanted him by her side, he didn't show up. She keeps staring at the door, not really caring about anyone else at the party. She doesn't know what to say because she doesn't want to explain her problems to everyone. That's when she understood that all of her doubts and suspicions about the relationship were absolutely correct. She couldn't even be happy on one of her happiest birthdays because he wasn't there when he promised he would be. It hurts and he apologizes, but she can't take it so she ends it. She realized then that she couldn't last in a half-assed relationship.

This song clearly translates into one where the girl goes through a hard time understanding what is keeping the boy from being there for here; not only physically but emotionally. She refers to the fact that "he said he'd be here" and "A million little shining stars had just aligned,
And I would've been so happy." She relates her being happy to his presence and that just merely seeing him would mean so much to here but the fact that he didn't show up makes her bottled up feelings explode and she's crying with her best friend there to help here thru it all.
She's in a party, her birthday most likely, and she's expecting for him to enter. Time drags on, every second, every minute, her face turns to the door hoping to see his tall figure illuminate the room. Every time it's someone else, disappointment runs through her and she can't hold it in anymore.
It's her day, she wants to have fun, she dressed up, had her hair done, got a great dress, Just. For. Him. To. See. But he didn't come, and that is what pains her. All expectations are crumbled to the ground.
And that was the moment when she knew that it was all over. Just over. Simply. Simply like that. -
This song is about Jake Gylenhaul (sp?) not showing up to Taylor's Birthday party after promising he'd be there. Taylor's birthday is December 13th - when she says the Christmas lights glisten- she references that.... Christmas lights are typically up by then.
This song is so relatable and puts into words the feeling many have felt before... Being let down. Ultimately though... him not showing up lets her know that he isn't the one for her...
This song describes the moment Taylor realizes Jake wasn't going to make her a priority. -
this song is about taylor getting all dressed up and got all pretty for one boyfriends (forgot who) who promised he would be there at her birthday wen she was 16 i think and she waited and waited.. but he never showed up when he promised he would.. 3
