The Outside Lyrics
when I went looking for a reason, I know,
I didn't read between the lines,
and baby I've got nowhere to go,
I tried to take the road less travelled by,
and nothing seems to work the first few times,
so...

This song is about how Taylor was ignored in middle school, but now, because she is so wildly talented, she is famous. So she's showing all those girls who made fun of her that she is great too. :)
-
I watched a documentary about Taylor not too long ago, and she said herself that this song was about another girl she saw at school. She was talking about how she(Taylor) didn't have many friends in school, so she would sit and watch people, and this girl happened to be one of those people.
-
It's obvious. It's about her and when she got ignored by popular girls in middle school. Then when she got famous she was like IN UR FACE
-
It is about her middle school life where all the mean girls were like "whatever" when she tried to talk to them and when she becam famous of course they were like some of her biggest fans.
