Faith Lyrics

No, no, no, no, no-no
Ooh
No, no, no, no, no-no
Ooh
Light a blunt up with the flame
Put that cocaine on a plate
Molly with the purple rain
'Cause I lost my faith
So I cut away the pain, uh
Got it swimming in my veins
Now my mind is...

Faith is about how The Weeknd goes back to his old ways to cope with the pain and heartbreak he is experiencing. There are plenty of drug references in the song so we know when he says "now it's time for me to go back to my old ways," he is not only referring to alcohol but also all of these drugs... not only does he have an on-and-off relationship with drugs, but also is ex-partner, which is thought to be model Bella Hadid. In the songs lyrics he expresses how he doesn't want sympathy felt for him during his relapse and that it's his only way of cutting the pain away. At the end of the song he discusses a dark time in his life where he "ended up in the back of a flashing car," and as most people believe the car to be an ambulance due to a possible overdose, The Weeknd himself states, "that's me in the back of a cop car, that moment." This was back in 2013-14 where he was arrested in Las Vegas for allegedly punching a police officer.
Overall the song Faith, in my interpretation, is a reflection of some of the darker times in his life where he feels as though he is loosing himself and his "religion" to his old ways of drug/alcohol use and physical violence (although that part is seen more on the side of the character in the After Hours film series and does not necessarily refer to The Weeknd himself. Side note: use of the word religion is (most likely) not literal, or in appliance to an actual religion
