Adele: Set Fire to the Rain Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Set Fire to the Rain Lyrics
I let it fall, my heart,
And as it fell, you rose to claim it,
It was dark and I was over,
Until you kissed my lips and you saved me,
My hands, they were strong, but my knees were far too weak,
To stand in your...

Her ex boyfriend dumped her and married someone else and now she's finding herself right now

Nobody ever thought about Gaslighting while listening to this ?
-
It was rather stupid to set fire to the rain (-yes, it is possible with enough energy) as it would make hydrogen peroxide which would kill us all!!!

I think that the song is about a relationship in which she knows (mind) the relationship wrong and destroying her but when she sees him (heart) she cannot resist going back to him for the moment only knowing that in the morning he will hurt her again by leaving. I wonder if it is not so much about a new relationship as it is with the same guy. He ignores her with no real commitment, but then he comes around and she is too unstable or unhealthy to say NO. When he is not there, she longs for him even though he hurts her over and over. Her mind says the relationship is over, but her passion gives in when he shows up or contacts her. Her is a jerk and she is not strong enough to not give in.....wonder if this could be a dream?

She was grateful to have him "love" her. She was rebounding, from her last relationship and he bacame a tower of strength for her - ostensibly saving her, (albeit temporarily), from her terrible sadness. At first, she was unable to see him for who he truly was - likely a liar and cheater. Their relationship was one-sided. He loved himself more than than he loved her and he had taken control her feelings. She began to lose herself in favor of loving him. The rain is the terrible sadness he caused her. The "setting fire..." is her leaving and her way of taking control of her own life and reclaiming her feelings, realizing it is a poor situation for both of them even though she loves to be with him. Burning is the fire taking away (drying up) the rain - her torment. She is very sad to have to let him go, as she has deep, deep feelings for him in spite of his lack of good character. However, she knows if she does not leave, she cannot become her own person and will always be "rained on" by him. She wants a REAL relationship and real love.

This Song Means That........

A woman realizes her relationship with the first man needs to end. Her heart is broken by this man but continuously thinks about being back with him despite his dual-sided nature. The woman realizing the situation is hopeless, sets fire to that sadness by bringing in a new love. The sadness from the past relationship continues to envelop her during her new relationship. She acts passionately in her new relationship to hopefully overcome the pain from her past. It is difficult to let it go because the first man keeps coming back to interact with her. She lets him win temporarily, but then the sadness overwhelms again. So repeatedly she runs back to the new lover and pushes past the pain (rain) with passion (fire).

This song is obviously talking about illuminati. The devil mostly. "there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew" the devil has many sides. "all the things you said they were never true, never true" the devil is a chronic liar using bribes and fortunes. "all the games you played you would always win, always win" the devil is a cheater. He will cheat at everything. And rain is the devil "rain man" is the devil.

I think she is literally burning the photographs of them together, while her teardrops are falling on the pictures. Hence, she is setting fire to the rain -- and burning away the memories of this person

Thanks for making the corrections I suggested! Some are very important to interpretations of the meaning of the song. That's the most important thing but it would also be appropriate to omit the commas at the end of all the phrases as suggested previously. WONDERFUL SONG!!

This song is about how [Adele] was in a relationship with somebody, but they broke her heart. Then, she finds somebody new, and she loves him. In the end, though, she breaks up with her second boyfriend because their relationship didn't work out. The chorus, "I set fire to the rain…" is all about how she is heartbroken but stays strong.

I want to point out that the LYRICS are wrong. She doesn't say "I was over YOU" but "I was over" meaning that she was at the end of herself, lost, done. This mistake in the lyrics above has caused some of the interpretations to go the wrong direction.
Please see YouTube for a version of the song with the lyrics printed and listen carefully.
The lyrics above also wrongly say: "
"Well, I felt something die" but the true words are "When it fell something died."
"When laying with you" is also wrong. Adele's lyrics are "When I lay with you."
"You and me together, nothing gets better" is really "nothing is better." She pronounces the "g" in nothing so I can see why this mistake was made.
Please put in some periods at the end of sections. Commas are over-used. -
Its about a power struggle between Three characters . Two men and their indifferences , and interpretations of theology and love.
But yet she is with the one she knows is not pure , but the pure belief in her love proper gates their reasoning of their separation , and in spirit she sees eye to eye to the other character , but yet cannot tell him , because of his ways in power , so she sets fire to the rain... -
It's about her selling her soul to the dark side and she can't get it back. Though she knows it was a mistake that she regrets the force is so strong that she still loves it. What a fool!
