Adele: Someone Like You Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Someone Like You Lyrics
That you found a girl and you're, married now
I heard, that you're dreams came true
I guess she gave you things
I didn't give to you
Old friend, why are you so shy
Ain't like you to hold back
Or hide...
-
For me, she's trying to tell this guy that she's not over him, yet she won't interrupt his current relationship. She just truly wishes him well and tells him not to worry, she will find someone... like him.

I dont understand it all but I think that it is about Adele, and that she had a boyfriend. Then they splitted up and later she had found out that he had got a new girlfriend and that he is now married. Adele is happy for them, but she likes this man still, but she cant have him so she is going to fint someone else?
Please help me, I have a presentation tomorrow, and I dont understand what it is about... -
This song hits so close to my heart its just like my love story with my first love. The guy ive been in love with for 6 years
we met one summer when i was 17 he was 19 (born and raised in a summer haze) (our glory daze)
It was the best year of my life to this day my life didnt allow me to stay i had to move and some months later i met someone and ended up getting married and haveing a child didnt speak to him for almost 4 years. thaught about him every day for 3 1/2 years. my marriage failed i moved back into town and called him. his number was still the same. (i hate to turn up out of the blue univited, but i coildnt stay away i couldnt fight it) we talked for hours for days. he has a girlfriend he was in school to be an editor (i heard that your settled down and you found a girl and married now i heard that your dreams came true guess she gave you things i couldnt give to you)and i was very happy he was doing so good with his career and if the girl made him happy then i was happy to. (i wish nothing but the best for you) he still loves me we keep in touch. the feelings are still there strong as ever. but hes moved on ( nevermind ill find someone like you, i wish nothing but the bestfor you too) we talk about our memories fun times the love we do have for each and did have and keep the future a mystery. (dont forget i beg i remember you said sometimes it last in love but sometimes it hurts instead) it drffiantly isnt over for me my heart i gave completely so young. (i had hoped youd see me my face and that youd be riminded that for me it isnt over).ill love him forever. -
I think this story tells us about a couple in their glory days and then suddenly the man just leaves her to crumble. A few months later she found out that he is already with another woman while she is still looking back hoping that they could still work out.
she hopes that when she turns out the man will remember the days they were together, but it turned out that the man didn't care at all.
so she picked up the pieces of her life and move on believing that she will find her happiness one day.
after she accepts her new life, she understands that sometimes love just doesn't work out and that she wishes the best for her ex. -
What we have once, enjoyed as we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us. Sometimes, love can be self-destructive. When its over, the memories kept well and you need to learn to walk again. The wound will heal within time.
3 powerful resources one shud have inside them are LOVE, PRAYER AND FORGIVENESS. -
I think she liked a guy and they had this amazing relationship, yet they were, "JUST FRIENDS" and he got married and the way she feels is a bit jealous and sad (who would've known how bittersweet this would taste)but she tries to be happy for him.(I wish nothing but the best for you, too) but she's saying for him not to forget her in case things go wrong.(Don't forget me, I beg, I remember you said 'sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead)because she will never forget him.
In summary, this song is about sympathy and learning to accept the "victory" of others but keep up hope JUST IN CASE:) -
I believe that she had a strong relationship with a boy, but as the years went by, they grow apart. Finally, she remembers him after several years, and wishes to find him. She finds him, and finds out he his married and has a family. But she loves him. Adele loves this man so much, she sacrifices her love, for his own well-being. She knows that he loves his wife and children, so she leaves him to live his new-found life, promising that no matter who she finds, she will love him, no matter who he loves.

Has anyone else brought up the possibility that when she says, "Nevermind, I'll find someone like you" That "someone like you" could mean either someone like the person she's singing about or that she'll find someone like the person she's singing about HAS. In other words, "I'll find someone just like you did" and not necessarily someone exactly like the person she's singing about. Just a thought.

The meaning of this song isn't exactly clear, but I think that it's about an old relationship. It's long over, but it was once so beautiful. She remembers it. She goes to visit him and see how he's doing, if he's moved on, or if he's stuck in the past. It seems to me like she's sort of stuck in the past, no matter how many times she tries to convince herself that she's not, she can't really move on from him, not completely. But she hears that he has a wife now, that he's happy, and she feels sort of a bittersweet feeling. She does want him to be happy, and she does want him to move on, she wishes him the best. But there's a part of her that wishes that he was sad, missed her, and wanted her back, saw how beautiful their relationship used to be. She just wants to find someone like him because he was someone she could never forget. And she doesn't want him to forget her either.

Adele is fat and stupid and needs to learn how to sing. If I were the doctor who fixed those dreaded vocal chords, I would kill myself in a sewer

What happens if that feeling for that guy is still there? What about the guy in this song?
Census says its about her loving a guy and the guy moving on...i get it. I think the issue is the distance that "literally" separates them. You will NEVER find "someone like you".
We can talk about it forever but there are loves in life that can never be changed. It's a special thing that is truly shared and creates a scar in the one who feels hurt and deserted. If the feeling is true it will forever leave a mark in your heart.
Unfortunately, you will never find "someone like you" no matter what we say to cover how we feel inside. Its meant to be self motivational... A way of telling yourself that you'll get over the hurt... that it will be ok. Its an admission that you will forever remember that person and how special, at that moment, that they were in your life. Its a true feeling of love...and how much it hurts that we have to express it.
I know I will never find another girl "like her" no matter where I look or the thousands I may meet. We are all one of a kind, most of us with hearts. Love is unique for the individual and it scars when its not there but will forever be remembered. -
She obviously heard it from someone else that her lover had settled down, and must have been out of the loop for a while!!
-
I don't know why but I always imagined a high school girl writing this about her current boyfriend, who she knows she will not end up marrying. She's thinking about the future, and how that will feel, I suppose
-
she likes a guy shes staying with her intuition that he'll come back. and that shes being an individual by not being like others that would probably not wait for the guy to final get that he needs to be with her and not someone else.

Anyone who has been there can easily recognize the feelings expressed in these lyrics. They are quite beautiful and haunting.
