Alan Walker: Lily Meaning
Lily Lyrics
Afraid of the big, wide world
She grew up within her castle walls
Now and then she tried to run
And then on the night with the setting sun
She went in the woods away
So afraid, all alone
They warned her, don't go...

I feel like it is a story of a little girl, who went out in the world to explore it. But she fell in hands of some dangerous people. She was first lured with money, which she might have been in need to live. But later those people, when found control over her, started using her (as making her do labour/ robbing her innocence). She realised it soon and tried to run away too, gave out cries for help. But whether she was rescued or not is unknown.
For me this song is making us realise about what happens when some bad people make little kids do child labour... -
I think she's unable to go back home/ Castle and can't go she left in the first place issue felt imprisoned I'm trying to make this as nice as possible
-
I think lily is the evil and the dark is the peace he wanted lily to get out of this evilness and follow him to see the beautiful world of mountains and he will protect her but she ran faster back to her castle hoping that she was dreaming and it was

Actually I think Itz a song about the teenager or the girl who never well known about outer world and her desire to go their and make friendship with person like her or her age, making fascination to make a relationship and when she made it they hypnotized her at that time she understood her mistake but it was too late to come. Then she start remembering her parents who forbids him about outside of the world. And continuously she was hypnotized.
Itz a sad song about the reality of life. -
In my humble opinion i feel like this song is about a little girl(im considering both genders btw) is tryinna take control of her/his own mind (aka the childs' mind/ teenage mind thats easy to manipulate) thats being time to time controlled by creepy pedophiles or narcissistic people.

I really think this song is about a little girl survival in facing the cruel reality of the world today.. those older and way more experience with the way of the world warned her but she doesn't listen.. at some point of her life she then realize and trying to go back but then the way of the world doesn't promise anything so she just keep on trying.. this is indeed a sad story..

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Well I think it's like young people just starting there life in the world ,being warned by the parents about the world that's it's not a nice place so be caerful, but most young people wanting to be free and want to gamble with life party and just be themselves but this also leads to most of their downfalls get addicted to stuff being enchanted by worldly desires.
-
honestly, i adore this song. but it's always made me think what it was about.
honestly i doubt it's about sexual things and drugs, BC in the beginning they did state "little girl" (which could happen, not saying it wouldn't) but i doubt any of that stuff has anything to do with the song. but my uppermost opinion that i lay with strong thought is that in the album:Different world. it warns you about the dangers of trusting people you don't know well. he may may have not been speaking in that direct way, but it's like most of the other songs in the album; he's talking about things that happen in real life but expressing them in different ways such as the song: diamond heart. in the song, they are talking about being scared to love again, but if they could they would and they'd do just bout anything. in most of his songs in the album they usually say: i would do anything for you (give anything to you, everything i do, i do it for you. etc.), aka. sing me to sleep, lily, diamond heart, do it all for you, etc. in a shorter way of saying it: anything for you. i know im now blabbering about some random stuff now. but it is fact. and people did warn lily -
There are many ways to interpret this song. One way,(my favorite) Lily is a sad woman The world has been cruel and she suffers great depression."Castle Walls" refer to her bedroom/mind. "They told her, dont go there" She runs to the so called forest- Which you can believe isn't a metaphor, Otherwise, It is Lily's deep thoughts. The creature, is her Mind telling her to kill herself. "Mountain High, Valley low" Maybe it means she is trapped in her emotional suicidal thoughts. "just let me in" refers to the creature of her mind to hang herself.

Disclaimer: Anyone who hasn't read/watched Harry Potter is going to have no fricking idea what I'm on about.
Ok but like there is absolutely no way that I was the only person who immediately thought of Lily Evans/Potter. Like...come on. "Grew up within her castle walls"? "Magic story"? Look, I am aware that this is probably not it. I know, I know. She's just who it reminded me of. Even the darker lyrics ("Starts screaming, is someone out there?/Please help me/Just let me in") could refer to her and James's time on the run from ol' Moldy Voldy and Peter's betrayal. Also, "Lily was a little girl / Afraid of the big, wide world" could mean that Lily was frightened of Hogwarts at first b/c she was a Muggleborn. -
My interpretations are lily not being the protagonist of any story is a simple girl like others who has lot of restrictions from her parents of not interacting much with others especially with the guys... Initially she used to follow the iron cast orders of her parents but one day she fell for a sweet looking guy and started loving the way he talks...she started believing the boy's fake promises of living with her forever. But one day the boy broke her heart

I think the song it about a girl and she’s rich but she wants freedom. Then one day she goes into the woods and sees a a person with horns that looks like a demon and then he promises anything she wants(love and freedom). And he hypnotize her then she gets out of it. And try’s to escape and yells for help. But then it was all a dream but he made her think that.
-
I think the song is a princess and she escapes her castle and goes into the enchanted forest meets a dark creature and hypnotizes her she thinks she is put but the creature damns her to her own hell inside her mind thinking that she escaped but she never does forcing her mind to break.
-
I feel like Lily was an innocent girl, as this song shows the transfer from her innocence to the real and dark reality of our world. I think the castle walls were her childhood, and this song is depicting her leaving the safety of her home, being tricked and manipulated by the harsh world. I believe she is trapped later, mentally or physically, and is trying to escape. When she finally does, I think she is enticed again and trapped once more, showing how cruel and horrible the reality of our world, as Lily falls into a state of depression.
