Alec Benjamin: Steve Meaning
Steve Lyrics
'Cause it left one person out
There was Adam, there was Eve
And there was someone else around
Yeah I think his name was Steve
And he was passing through town
When he heard a snake whispering
To Adam in the...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:I think the song means don’t try to get more than you need. be ok with what you have.
-
2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:I think Steve is the inner voice; the conscious mind that remains intact. It's there to convince but not to persuade. It's mild such that if Adam and Eve ain't keen enough won't get it.
-
3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:Steve is basically a lesson that you shouldn't be sad over what you don't have, and, instead, be grateful for what you do have. Also, that you should do what's right and not give in to pure pressure, because if you do give in to pure pressure you might lose everything that you do have then you will have nothing. So, in the long run, be happy for what you do have and don't morn over the things that you don't have, cuz you could possibly have nothing.

I think that this song means that Steve is like the Holy Spirit we have today since back in Adam and Eves time God has not sent the Holy Spirit yet so I would think that is what this song is about but just remember this is just my opinion
P.S
The Bible is absolutely perfect don’t listen to the fist sentence in the song -
That steve is basically someone that God sent to make sure that they don't make the mistake that he see's in the future and warning them to not make a mistake.
-
I find it hilarious how It's Adam who eats the apple first when irl it's actually eve who eats it first. But this song is definitely about how you should take more than you need and that Steve is like the Angel in your mind telling you what is right while the serpent is the devil in your mind.
-
steve may be used as the holy spirit/holy ghost... maybe... idk it makes the most sense to me because alec isnt gay and he isnt tryna be funny with this song.
-
Can a guy just read the Bible and write a song Haha. The the “Book of. Information. Before. Leaving. Earth.” That is what Bible stands for. Great message. Biblically Steve is the voice of God or at least says exactly what God says. Once you take a bight from the fruit you will be physically and emotionally aware, unlike every other being we are now aware of.
-
I personally think it's telling you To never be greedy because
"... you want what you can't have, but you have all the things you need..." this tells you to never take to much of what you have as you have just what you need
"...don't risk it all for a taste, oh what a waste, to have everything and give it all away..." this means that greed can make it all be taken away from you even if it's little that you have or a great amount you have just take what you need. -
I think it's refering to the sentence " Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve". Steve was there and he's left out because he tried to stop them from doing a sin (eating the forbidden apple) but he already was a sinner because what he has done with Adam (gay stuff yk

Adam, eve, and Steve. I think about Steve as an inner voice like the good and evil side. Steve is the inner voice of Adam and eve, trying to tell him and her to not eat the forbidden but the serpent witch is the opposite of Steve is trying to tell him to eat the forbidden fruit. Steve and the serpent reflect our ways of life , of what we do wrong and good.

I think that Steve was just trying to help them and make sure that they don't get hurt but adam wanted what he didn't have and when Adam didn't listen he was stuck with nothing even though he had every thing before Steve was jest trying to help not putting any hate on abam and eve so what I'm trying to say is that Steve was the third wheel and I don't get why Steve was left out
-
Its about like boy and girl are supposed to be together but adam and eve but then steve was the threesome part of it
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I saw a few different interpretations about this song. But from what I heard I interpreted the song was about the 3rd wheeler of the group; always trynna prevent you from doing something stupid (Steve). Steve was the 3rd wheeler and he was trying to prevent Adam and Eve from eating the fruit of the spirit (trynna prevent you and your friends from doing something stupid). I Guess using metaphors about the Bible is popular in artistry in the modern day!

I feel like part of the meaning behind this song could be a play on the age old boomer phrase of "It'S ADaM aNd EVe, NoT AdAM AnD StEVe!!" Just a thought.
