All Time Low: The Reckless and the Brave Meaning
Song Released: 2012
The Reckless and the Brave Lyrics
I don't think I want to be saved
My song has not been sung
So long live us
Looking out at a town called Suburbia
Everybody's just fighting to fit in
Little rats running mazes, having babies
It's a...

Is it just me or is this song inspired by Jesus of Suburbia (jos) by Green Day? The song is very similar, both towns are call Suburbia. The person in the reckless and the brave (r&b) and jos don't fit in their town and move out to find their dream.I get the chills when in r&b it says 'say goodbye to me', to me this is like when jos becomes St. Jimmy throughout the American Idiot album.
Just a thought -
I always thought this song was about living young and being reckless, then I looked at the lyrics a bit more. I think it's about growing up a precious town then "going to the other side" being the reckless side. Let me explain.
------
Looking back at a life on the other side
I realize that I didn't fit in
Didn't hate it but I didn't quite relate it
To my precious little world
------
I think this is about him looking back on his old life with people who he never fit in with. He kinda lived in his own world It never was related to the world he actually lived in.
------
Breaking out of a town called Suburbia
I remember everybody always saying
"Little brat, must be crazy, never make it
In our vicious little world"
------
He is now finally breaking out of the people who were not brave and reckless like he was. They all said he was crazy and a brat to leave and that he would never make it.
------
In the end I think the song is about being reckless and brave and breaking out of what the other people are. I don't know though because I did not write the song, just a quick idea (: -
Basically an anthem about being young, and fearless. Living in the now, enjoying your youth while it's still here.
