Rite of Spring Lyrics

I was locked all day in the summer heat,
In a small brown house in Suburban Street,
With a skateboard and my shit guitar,
I'd dream all day that they would get me far,
My dad would ask me about my grades,
The asshole sports that I never...

Never have I known a song to be so personal to the writer, yet so easy for me to relate to. Perfect.

it plainly the story of his life he got kicked out of his school poway highschool. he lived in the suburbs of San Deigo. got a sh*t guitar and started a punkrock band in an hour... he played/plays guitar for blink182...theres no deep meaning this is him looking back seeing his bad and good times and his childhood and sees it made him who he is today

this song is about Tom's life.

"It was near when I turned sixteen, got kicked out of school" - Tom was kicked out of Poway High School during his junior year (1991) after being caught drunk at a school basketball game.

"It took an hour to start a punk rock band" - he started a band called blink-182

"The smallest dreams got pushed aside,
The largest ones that changed my life" - he wanted to be in a band.

"It's all success if it's what you need,
Do what you like and do it honestly." We need to do what we like and we will succeed.

this is my favourite song by Angels and Airwaves. and people who think that eminem is a lyrical genius probably never heard of Tom DeLonge.

It depicts his life, blink 182, and the stuff he's gone through. P
