Angels & Airwaves: Heaven Meaning
Heaven Lyrics
And hostile lands
I will touch the rain
With all I have
I will breathe the air,
Just scream it loud
My feet will never touch the ground
Because the days they feel
Like ancient clocks
Like when kids grow up...

When I watch the Heaven video the thing that I gather from it is when you see the Arches Grand Canyon etc... Is that you have to ask yourself, are we all in Heaven on a daily basis as we live and we have the opportunity to enjoy everything on Earth as God intended. If Jesus was born here as we know... Makes you wonder because once we die and turn to dust, when it's time to be reborn again to hopefully live a better, yet different life in a different time period. Because what we can see or have to chance to see what God has created for us all to see and admire. Just like finding that perfect mate we can fall in love with. Maybe this is Heaven?

this song is powerful..... just talks about love man and it's insane. when kids grow up and learn to walk.

I strongly agree with everything the first interpretation written on this page said, but I just wanted to make one more observation. You know how on earth, if a couple were apart they would look at the moon and wonder if their "significant other" was looking at that same moon at the same time. Well, I believe that this song puts a twist on that when is says, "Do you see the hills beneath the clouds?" The astronaut can see the world that his wife is living in beneath the clouds. He sees the world in a completely different way, even though they are looking at the same things. its almost as if the hills and what both the astronaut and his wife can see brings them a sense of connection. I think its absolutely beautiful. I LOVE this song, definitely one of my favorites from Angels and Airwaves. No other style of music can give such an amazing love story justice.

To understand this song or any other song he writes, you'll need to have a better understanding of the world. When he says "a place so gloriously wired" means we are all connected and this is scientifically accurate. Known as dark energy or the "god particle". The substance found in every thing, even empty space. Showing, whether you believe it or not, that we all are connected to each other. Each and every one of us really do have an impact. Witch is the reason his message in most of his songs are to love.
"Can you sense the pain, that's everywhere?
And if you try, you'll never care
And the love you had when you were young
Is right outside for all to come
Because your life is full of pure desire
A place so gloriously wired." -
The song Heaven is not a commentary on Heaven, God, or any religion. The song heaven is actually an episode with a distinct story line about an astronaut and his wife and family.
The first verse is the wife speaking, saying she "will run the streets and hostile lands" with her feet "never touch[ing] the ground" because she is constantly running (metaphorically) to try and reach her husband, who is above in space in the shuttle. Days pass by as the kids learn to walk. She reflects on the astronauts world: a place so wired (the space shuttle). The astronaut thinks that his situation is a mess.
But it is the moment when he and she thinks of their family as the last one's left, the last ones who matter (a dream perhaps), is when they feel each other's presence, and the hairs on their necks stand. It is this singular moment that is truly heaven for them. The second verse is the astronaut talking, wishing that his wife could see the hills beneath the clouds, and an imaginary trail of stars to lead her to him. The love they had when they were young is right outside the door, but this desire is futile, because even though its right outside that door, he cannot open it, for surely he will die in space. He reflects on how her world is also gloriously wired (the city streets and lights).
They are both dreaming, and again they feel each other's presence. The hairs stand, and the wife abruptly wakes up from sleeping. She feels an emotion far too great for words.
During this instrumental, I picture the astronaut preparing for something big, but we don't know it yet. Scenes of the inside of the shuttle and vista of outer space flash, as well as the kids running through a field.
When the light breaks through the clouds, the spaceship is actually landing, and the world for him will begin just like it ended (The minute the spaceship left earth his world ended, but the minute it touched back down, it began again)
The wife calls out to her husband, saying that she will always be there forever more at whatever cost. Her world began just as it ended also (It ended when she let go of the astronaut to go into space, and it began again when they hold each other in each other's arms)
"Please stay don't go, I got you now, are you curious?" is the two holding each other, wanting to give the other an update on how much things have changed, and their experience during their time apart.
Its a beautiful song actually, and I love the story it tells. A tale of love and perseverance. I don't think any other song in the universe has told a story with this level of poetry and cinematic grandeur. Thank you AVA.
