Breaking Benjamin: Wish I May Meaning
Wish I May Lyrics
I can't wait for this to end
sober, empty in the head
I know I can never win!
Why should I have to wait
I'll just look the other way
We left this land of shiny lights
I wish I may, I wish I might
when all these...
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
i think it is about abuse
"wish i may wish i might"-maybe wishing it he could stop them
"why should i have to wait"-for it to end
"theyll all just look the other way"-obvious noone is paying attention to what is going on
"i can see you suffocate, i cant find no other way"-the abuse victim finally killing the abuser, because he saw no other way to make it stop.
"BLIND EYES SHINE THROUGH"-people finally realized what was happening.
As an abuse victim i can totally see this and this is one of my favorite songs. -
Well, the "wish I may, wish I might" reminds me of the old saying "I wish I may, I wish I might, wish upon a star tonight". So maybe it's talking about having dreams and trying to achieve them. And how hard it can be.
On the other hand, it could also be about betrayal. Like the part that says "you're not my friend". So maybe some sort of abuse was going on which would also tie into the "blind eyes" part. Many people who are abused are in denial about it. -
Well... I have a theory that's really far out, but I can't help thinking about it when listening to this song... Or... At least when I'm listening to the first part of the song...
"Shove me under you again
I can't wait for this to end
Sober, empty in the head
I know I can never win
Why should I have to wait
I'll just look the other way"
It sounds like the person is being abused and tries to repress the whole being abused thing ("Sober, empty in the head", could show this)... I know this is just a theory from a screwed up mind... Can't help but thinking about it that way though...
