Breaking Benjamin: Without You Meaning
Without You Lyrics
I lost myself.
We all fall down.
Never the wiser of what I've become.
Alone I stand,
a broken man.
All I have, is one last chance.
I won't turn my back on you.
Take my hand,
drag me down.
If...

Well.. all people have different point of views. and almost all of them are saying it's about "a relationship".
But as Benjamin said in an interview, the whole album is about his Grandfather. -
I believe this song tells a story of an ill-fated, incompatible love. Because the singer is male, I will refer to the singer (the speaker for all you literature critics) as "He" and the lover as "She". Even though it is not impossible that the relationship is homosexual or from a female's perspective, there is little evidence in any direction, and being a heterosexual male, I find it easiest to talk about it this way.
Simply put, the woman is dragging him down and destroying his life, but he doesn't want to give her up because he loves her. Breaking Benjamin has multiple songs about the negative side of love, so this fits in with them perfectly.
"Search for the answers I knew all along/ I lost myself/ We all fall down/ Never the wiser of what I've become" This verse fragment is when he realizes that he has been wrong about his lover, that she is indeed detrimental to his life. Perhaps she is impressing bad habits onto him, taking away his social life, or many other possibilities.
But for him, love conquers all. And he will accept her negative side for the sake of their relationship: "All I have is one last chance/ I won't turn my back on you/ Take my hand/ Drag me down/ If you fall then I will too/ And I can't save what's left of you"
It continues, "Sing something new/ I have nothing left/ I can't face the dark without you/ There's nothing left to lose/ The fight never ends/ I can't face the dark without you" He not only wants her in his life, he NEEDS her. His sanity is dependent on their love, and he will take any burden she may give to him.
The second verse doesn't have much new evidence, so I will skip to the bridge. "I wanted to forgive/ I'm trying to forgive/ Don't leave me here again/ I am with you/ Forever/ The end" Here, he is begging pleading with her to not give him up. Perhaps the reason she was a bad influence was because she never loved him in the first place. Otherwise, she now knows that he realized she was bad for him, and he is trying to convince her that he doesn't care.
Finally, we have a conclusion, "Holding the hand that holds me down/ I forgive you/ Forget you/ The end" He gives her up and we have the image of him releasing her heavy, dragging hand. He tries to leave with no hard feelings, saying he forgives her. Now free from his burden, his life goes on. -
the song is about a guy and a woman. the woman probably died and he is like doing drugs coz of it. But hey! he got the tune of the persons life!
-
I think this song is about a guy who loves a girl who doesn't loves him back, but he doesn't want her to go away.
