Bruno Mars: Talking to the Moon Meaning
Talking to the Moon Lyrics
Somewhere far away
I want you back
I want you back
My neighbours think
I'm crazy
But they don't understand
You're all I have
You're all I have
[Chorus:]
At night when the stars
light up my room
I...

When I hear that song, it makes me think of my little dog who passed at 17 years old. How I miss her and how I hope she hears me when I talk to her to tell her I love her
-
This song is for his mother who passed away and this song pretty much os about how he is whishing she would come back. Talking to the moon pretty much means his mother is in hevean.
-
It's probably about a person who has passed away and had a strong connection with him.
-
This is about him missing his mum and now that she has passed away he talks to the moon in hopes that she'll hear him and that she's watching over him
-
It may be about trying to reach someone indirectly. You 'talk to the moon' so she maybe will hear it. Just as you may say something on facebook hoping 'she' will read it although you don't tag her. Or you talk to a friend hoping he will gossip it to her.
-
I feel it's about God, and I can relate to it so much because when I became a Christian all my friends (neighbors-close ones) called me crazy, and I'm the "talk of the town" bc everyone from the outside looking in thinks I've "gone mad". Also the moon usually represents God. I love this song so much, I even use it for worship. It can be about any loved one really, so for me it's about God <3

This song could be about the death of a girlfriend or the longing for someone who Bruno broke up with, but I think that this song is about two young lovers who are forced apart by uncontrollable forces, such as their parents, and Bruno hopes that they can still communicate through the moon. Almost like a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet. I hope I made some sense in this.
-
I think its about a girl that he once loved, and he just realized how much she meant to him and he thinks about day and night and he hopes that she thinks about him too.
-
I think its about Michael Jackson
-
my boyfriend said that this was our song and i wanted to know the meaning and i saw the passing awayt stuff and i got scared and i asked and we both now think its about a couple that have such strong feelings for eachother that they kept a long distance relationship going and how the couple cant see eachother that much

I think this song could be talking about someone who has fell back in their christianity, or has started to dout that God even exists if their going through a hard time or somthing....
the person is praying at night, but it appears to a stranger that their talking to the moon, since typicly, when people pray, the lift their heads tawards the Lord,in the sky. This person, like I said, may be douting God's existance at the time but they still feel that he's "somewere out there. somewere far away" -
I think that the one he love breakup with him but him still love her and every night he sitting there talking to the moon and hope that she is some where out there will come back with him..
-
I kind of see this song coming from the point of view when a girl he was in love with sort of walked out of his life, and he's still waiting for her. He metaphorically talks to the moon each night, knowing she's somewhere unknown in the world living her life. He's hoping that one day she'll come back for him, but in the meantime, he promises himself he won't forget her.
-
I think it is about someone he was close to passing away, like everyone else does. But I also think that that person was the only person who truly understood him, and now they're gone.
