Christina Perri: Daydream Meaning
Daydream Lyrics
Now's my chance to turn and run
Like I always do
Build a story in my head
It was love before we met
Happy, with my idea with you
Stay where you are
Please don't break my heart
Love you in my...

"Finally your time has come
Now's my chance to turn and run
Like I always do" this is saying that she is out of time for daydreaming and she has to face reality.
"Build a story in my head
It was love before we met
Happy, with my idea with you" she idealized him, only seeing him through her overly romantic mind, rather than seeing him as he is.
"Stay where you are
Please don't break my heart" she is afraid to face him, and leave her daydream, because then that might be all it really was.
"Love you in my daydream" she has made him perfect in her mind, and so she wants it to be real. "Don't open your mouth, open your mouth" dont ruin it, stay as you were, and at the same time speak, show me you are the same as in my daydream.
"Everything I'll ever need
Spoil it now, spoil it now" she needs him because he is perfect, but she wants him to spoil it, because then she HAS to leave her daydream and move on.
"You stood up and I fell down" this indicates some sort of shock
"Watching me, watching you
I know what you wanna do
But I'm afraid of my wish coming true" he knows how she feels, he feels the same, but she is afraid that it wont be the same.
"So I paint a picture in my mind, that
I go back to older times
It's better than being with you" she relives the past, and lives in her mind, because she is afraid of the future she has with the real him.
yeah, so basically, theres this guy that she likes, but she is afraid of the real him because she made him so perfect in her mind. And even though he might like her, she knows nothing will ever live up to her daydream. But she doesnt admit this, instead she says that he might ruin her daydream, by being someone other than who she made him.
Wow that was looooooooong :) -
I think it means quite the opposite really... She's met a man who she thinks is too good to be true. She's happy with the idea of him being good enough, because then she knows she can always find something wrong and run if he's not perfect for her. She's scared that she may have the real deal on her hands. She wants him to say something to prove her wrong, like others always have. She understands running, that's what she's good at. She's afraid that she might have found the man of her dreams, and if he comes any closer, she'll see that he really is and the potential for heart break is higher. It's easier to love her "good enough" idea of him than the real/possibly "the one" "him".

I believe this is about Christina being in love with the idea of someone, but in reality their love would never work out because the guy isn't as good of a person as she paints him to be, "I paint a picture in my mind that I go back to all the time" "It's better than being with you". She knows that if they're together he'll only break her heart, "Stay where you are please don't break my heart". So she's happy with just the daydream of how she wishes he could be and how happy they could be then but, he only ruins this image for her when he opens his mouth and lets her down, "love you in my day dream, don't open your mouth, open your mouth".
