Christina Perri: Human Meaning
Song Released: 2013
Human Lyrics
I can hold my breath
I can bite my tongue
I can stay awake for days
If that's what you want
Be your number one
I can fake a smile
I can force a laugh
I can dance and play the part
If that's what you ask
Give you all I am
I...

I think this song is a call for help, that she is trying to make something work, but it is becoming more and more difficult to cope.
-
you are trying to give your all and it just isn't enough for the other person to see. To others you act strong and brave but inside things have happened to you that will forever change your mindset. I think this song is was written to tell us that message that not everyone is perfect and she like many other push their feelings inside and act as if you're okay but really you are struggling inside. All of us are human and can only be pushed around so much until we break.
-
This song always tears me up a bit. I think it is a way of saying that people are only people and not perfect, motionless robots. It is easy to fake a smile but the actual feeling of hurt cannot be turned on and off like a switch.

This song is saying that no one was meant to be perfect, and you shouldn't judge them for being who they are. Everyone can fake a feeling or mood, but they are hiding their feelings on the inside.

This song is one of passion and heartbreak. Though he pushes her too hard, she still wants to be perfect for him. He is her everything, but she is nothing and expendable to him. the human mind interprets things they may not be real in reality as love, though it always leads to sorrow. Without love, the world means nothing, so the brain creates an unrealistic outlet to fill the void.(PS, I am a 13 year old!)

"I can stay awake for days if that's what you want, be your number one". "If that's what you ask give you all I am". These lines tell her feelings for the other person. There is no doubt of her feelings. He has her heart.
"But I'm only human I bleed when I fall down" "your words in my head, knives in my heart. You build me up then I fall apart". These lines explain that he may not feel the same way she does. He may tell her things that build her up and make her feel hopeful. Then he does or says something causing her to doubt how he feels or if he feels at all.
To me it's a heartbreaking song of how she loves someone and he just doesn't really love her back he's not serious. She finally realizes this. -
I think that Christina is saying that she loves her man with all her heart, but he asks so much of her and treats her so bad that she's telling him she's only human and can't handle it anymore.
