My Sacrifice Lyrics

Hello my friend
We meet again
It's been a while
Where should we begin?
Feels like forever
Within my heart
Are memories
Of perfect love that
You gave to me
Oh, I remember
When you are with me
I'm free, I'm careless
I believe
Above all...

well i looked up the meaning of this song and i couldn't choose which one i thought was the real meaning in this song, after all the real meaning is what the song makes you feel and that is what the art of music is for is to display what a person is feeling. when i started hearing creed i feel in love with all their songs, but the one song that made me think of the meaning was my sacrifice it made me think of my own life like all music does. i like to see this song as my own life by sacrifice is to go into service of a branch and waiting to come back to a loved one because the hardest thing to do is to leave your loved ones to follow your dreams.

Clearly he's talking one on one with the Lord, something that he's not been able to do for awhile.

Only One can give "perfect love" that is Jesus.

Only One can give the kind of freedom to fly above all others.

My sacrifice means he has to give that up and live in this imperfect world.

    "Hello my friend
    We meet again
    It's been a while
    Where should we begin?"
(thats about how he is confronting god again after leaving him for a while)
    "Feels like forever
    Within my heart
    Are memories
    Of perfect love that
    You gave to me"
(about how the singer is remembering what god gave him and how he loved him)
    I'm free, I'm careless
    I believe"
(about how when he's with god he is free and happy)

I think "My sacrifice" can mean different things to different people.

For me i think what the band means is that when Christ died on the cross for us, he become "My sacrifice".

It really touches my heart when i hold on to the words "My sacrifice". :)

Sacrifice is another word for his addiction. I am not sure if it is drugs or alcohol. But the GOD all the people are talking about in this blog is a metaphor for his GOD which his safe place and that safe place is achieved through drugs or alcohol. Can you take me higher, another of his lyrics, is talking about the same thing. To me he is signing about getting away from his emotions and escaping. They are both beautiful songs whether they are about GOD or drugs. Considering is emotional issues, I think its drugs, maybe heroin he is singing about.

It seems clear that this song is about reuniting with Jesus, as He is "My Sacrifice" and the Sacrifice of all who are Christian. It is not about any sacrifice being made by the writer.

I believe that this song is open to interpretation. You can see different meanings inside the lyrics depending upon your life experiences. For example it can be seen from a relationship point of view, a religious point of view, or from a mile stone point of view.

Relationship: That in the past he was close to a woman but they separated but then he came across her again, hence the "Hello my friend, we meet again."
Also the words "Of perfect love that you gave to me." can entice one to believe that it is about a relationship. It is implied that he is joyous at this reunion, "It feels so good to reunite." Telling how they were together. But now he's back again.
Finally the repetition of the words "This brings tears to my eyes, my sacrifice." Tells of the pain and suffering he is going through, because he could see that her life is fine without him and that she has moved on. Therefore he lets her go because of his love for her.

Religious: That he was once on God's path, showing the closeness between them with the word "Friend", but he turned away from God. But now he's back and he feels so good about being back "When I'm with you I'm careless, I'm free, I believe." Belief is one of the biggest aspects in the Christian faith. The Christian God is also a god of peace, so the words "Lets find peace there" imply that he is talking/praying to the Christian God.
"I just want to say hello again" he says "again", showing how he was once with God.
And then with: "This brings tears to my eyes, my sacrifice." could mean tears of joy. The joy brought fourth because he is once again on the right path and has has all of his sins forgiven.

Mile Stone: That he is sacrificing something for the greater good. For his health, his job, or his relationship. That his life was so good and pure, but then he started doing something wrong, like eating too much, or becoming anorexic. Therefore he decided to find himself again and sacrifice whatever was pulling him down.

I think this song is still up for interpretation, and that I could go on and on finding new view points to look at this song from. But it'll be of now use because everyones view is important and no interpretation can ever truly be wrong. Because what is the truth for one person, could be considered a lie or a falsity from another persons viewpoint. So we should not try and claim that we are right and someone else is wrong, unless we go to the composer of this song, and ask him the 'true' meaning of this song.

    OK....

The Song My Sacrifice in my opinion is about a relationship with Christ...In the Bible no man has seen GOD. so the idea of Hello my friend we meet again would not imply GOD but Jesus. The person obviously was christian and got tempted away. Upon returning he wants to renew his relationship with Jesus because he realizes that a relationship with Jesus is the only way to feel any kind of freedom.

Creed really isn't considered christian, but some songs like this one actually have a christian meaning behind it.
It talks about him reuniting his relationship with God

im not sure,,but i think this song is about getting his life together and reuniting God. he probably stopped believing in Jesus for awhile, and made alot of bad decisions. then realized that he needed to get his life straight and find something positive to do.
