Creed: My Sacrifice Meaning
Song Released: 2001
My Sacrifice Lyrics
We meet again
It's been a while
Where should we begin?
Feels like forever
Within my heart
Are memories
Of perfect love that
You gave to me
Oh, I remember
When you are with me
I'm free, I'm careless
I believe
Above all...
-
I think it's about him reuniting with God.
-
I did some research on this song, and some of the info i found says that it's about finding himself, when he says hello my friend we meet again, he's talking of himself.
-
I reckon he is a relapsing junkie and is talking about heroin.
-
THE SACRIFICE IS TO END UP A PROHIBITED RELATIONSHIP. Based on a real story, this sacrifice was done because a person had to leave a beloved friend. To keep the prohibited relatonship, they would have to lie to all the others around them. After a long time, they miss each other and need to talk. After reading this, listen again to the song and video-clip.

with many pop songs there is probably no realy meaning, to maximize the appeal to a wide audience, so that everyone can put whatever they like into the song.
but i think the video is helpful here. "when you are with me, i am free". he looks up, he's got a massice cross on his shoulders. i think the "you" is god, jesus.
the sacrifice is letting "bad" worldly tings go. like the woman. the woman to me is evil. evil temptress, she looks evil when she surfaces and then she smiles when he sees her, and he looks away somber, his hands together as in prayer.
anywho, no idea what they really meant, and what's with the fishmen? -
This song is obviously about God. The woman or childhood interpretations, well whose the sacrifice? His sacrificeis Jesus Christ, that's the only explanation that makes sense. He probably felt like he turned away from God, and he found him again "we meet again." And that is how Christians feel, we feel free. Honestly, like many of Creed's other songs, the only way you can see any other meaning is if you really try hard to bend the words to however you want them.
-
It's about Satan and his people!
-
This song is about Scott Stapp reconnecting with himself ("Hello my friend we meet again, its been awhile where should we begin") ("Within my heart are memories, of perfect love that you gave to me (himself)"). Although there are other meanings, this one stuck out to me the most.
-
I think when he says "above all the others we'll fly, this brings tears to my eyes, my sacrifice" he means that by being with her (perfect love), he wasn't gonna be with anyone better. That's his sacrifice.
-
some of the people here are saying that it's about him being in love, while others are saying that it's about God, and i think that it is about God cuz CREED IS A CHRISTIAN BAND! you have to think, if it is christian, and it's talking about love, you have to realize that it is about the love of God. and as for the Sacrifice, two things, one, Christ died on the cross as a SACRIFICE for the sins of all men and women, because the penalty for sin is and was death, that is why there were the sacrifices of the pure lambs, bulls, etc. the punishment was able to be transfered to that animal and it would die in your place. Christ is the final sacrifice because he died for all the sins of the world. also, as a christian, Christ said that we must "take up your cross and follow me" so we must sacrifice some of the things that we would want or enjoy to remain in the grace of God
-The way of the Shepherd is narrow and steep-
God Bless -
I´ve always thought about this song as a love story that begins again (maybe because that was what I wanted to belive). But Listening again I think it is about knowing yourself, recognizing your rights and wrongs, accepting yourself and living in peace with what you are. Sorry if I didn´t spell well, I´m from Spain. Great song eather way!!!

It has to do with finding him self and religion again how he finds god again
-
Someone who I have developed "those feelings" for sent this song to me recently coz the words made him think of me. I can only interpret this song in relation to my own situation and it's a sort of love song. The "when you are with me, etc" bit is how he feels about a woman or friend who he's been seperated and reunited with recently. He's sacrificing / or has sacrificed involving himself in that relationship again for something. He doesn't say what tho, it cud be their's OR his happiness. That cud be interpreted differently and more clearly to fit into many peoples lives, as it does mine. It's all a speculation at the end of the day. Beautiful song tho!

My thought is this song is the path to be united and one with god. He is reflecting on the path that he takes and the sacrifices people make to become one with god.
The video itself opens up with him being a humble old god like figure without temptations sitting on a park bench. He is Blind to the temptations of the world.
It then zooms into his past with him in a boat on the streets of life. All the activity around him are others sinking into the temptations of the world while he is observing and coming to realization of what it takes to become one with god again.
You can see other priest/monk like figures rowing by him afloat of everyone else.
The letter man is trying to deliver the message of god to others that are sinking. You can see the postman stays afloat the entire time delivering messages.
The youth are born innocent but slow take the dip into the waters as the grow.
Finally we see he realizes what he needs to do. He then finds himself and pulls his body out of the waters (saving himself).
The school bus loaded with candles signifies his path to learning about the teachings of god.
In the last part of the video... The lady and child in the storm are weathering the challenges of life without god. He is sheltered inside and when he makes an entrance. The storms subside as he now has the power to teach others.
It then breaks back to the beginning of the video, as the story has been told.
I really think it is just a homage to the dedication and sacrifice people give to be with god again and how enlightening it is. Pretty simple message. -
why does it have to be black and white? so cut and dry? every mucicion just want their songs to have meaning...doesnt matter to who, or what the meaning is. this kind of song retlates to every 1 in a different way...from family seperation, crumbled relationships, to reuniting with god... songs dont have just one meaning.
