Don't Talk to Strangers Lyrics

Don't talk to strangers
Cause they're only there to do you harm
Don't write in starlight
'Cause the words may come out real
Don't hide in doorways
You may find the key that opens up your soul
Don't go to Heaven cause it's really only...

I believe these lyrics are totally sarcastic. He is telling us that we are being told to fear all the things that expand and awaken us. "strangers" taught to fear those that are outside our circle or different than us. doorways...the thresholds to other realms, the borderlines of reality where we see there is so much more and may be afraid to walk through, writing is starlight..vs sunlight...doing things in altered light is magic, it has a different frequency and leads to different results/moods/emotions...smell the flowers....the different medicines available to us from the plant kingdom....women....the challenges of the opposite sex...what intrigues us and is not always the easiest to understand...our culture tells us to beware all of this, that it is darkness and pain and that we are driven to it when we are angry as a vice...yet, in balance these are the same things that free us.

Everyone has a great idea of RJD's meaning in the song. I have another view for everyone.

I think it is about the part of the Human Psyche called the Ego speaking to someones mind. Without getting into the three parts that make up the Psyche, the Ego is created in our mind, by our mind.
It is truly synthetic an not a real world image of one self.

The ego hides in the corners of the mind and whispers to you. It reacts instead of thinking, then when you thought about your reaction, it tells you that you overreacted and should feel wrong for the reaction. Thinking things like: I'm fat, I'm ugly, nobody likes me, I'm the best player here, she looks fake and similar thoughts are voiced by the Ego. To complicate things, the ego can also hide behind the truth.

Hey you, you know me, you've touched me, I'm real
I'm forever the one that lets you look and see and feel me I'm danger, I'm the stranger

    And I, I'm darkness, I'm anger, I'm pain

I am master, the evil song you sing inside your brain

And some thoughts the Ego can whisper:

    Don't talk to strangers
Cause they're only there to do you harm
    Don't write in starlight
'Cause the words may come out real
    Don't hide in doorways
You may find the key that opens up your soul
Don't go to Heaven cause it's really only Hell
    Don't smell the flowers
They're an evil drug to make you lose your mind
    Don't dream of women
'Cause they'll only bring you down

Remember the part above where I said the Ego can hide behind the truth? Anyone who has ever had their heart broken will identify with the “Don't dream of women” lyrics.

After experiencing astral projection Via sleep paralysis and coming in contact with various entities, it led me to researching the different types. The old hag, succubus/incubus, the imp, the demon, and the stranger. The dark entity commonly referred to as the stranger is what I believe Dio is referencing. If you’ve ever experienced this phenomenon, specifically the stranger, it gives a much deeper meaning to all these lyrics. I never truly appreciated this song until after I experienced these events. I also believe Dio is rightly giving solid advice, that you should not talk to these things, because they only want to feed off of your negative energy.

This song is about the warnings we received growing up from our patents and teachers. Don't talk to strangers. Don't get into a car or accept candy from stranger danger. These are basic rules in life, but even with this some don't listen and either are missing, found dead, are tricked into life of prostitution, gangs and choose Satan instead of God.

It's about Satan who's trying to hypnotize a man who's trying to escape the current world

''Hey you, you know me, you've touched me, I'm real
I'm forever the one that lets you look and see and feel me I'm danger, I'm the stranger

    And I, I'm darkness, I'm anger, I'm pain

I am master, the evil song you sing inside your brain''

Then it says : ''Don't dance in darkness
You may stumble there and you're sure to fall''

Devil is the servant of Darkness, so you have to defy him
You have to avoid people by not following them at their habits and their lifestyle , because they are Hypnotized by the game which is casted by the Devil.
    Don't play his game anymore

In every song Dio states that you have to choose between God and Devil, you can't follow multiple paths in one.

its about the things we should beware of. The different ways through which one can get fooled easily. It doesn't mean don't trust anyone or hate everyone it just means be careful and be watchful.

I believe this song is clear cut it shapes and molds a person from a young age and it says be paranoid live in fear don't trust anyone don't smell the flowers like don't stop and smell the roses and enjoy your life because It's not to enjoydon't write in starlight meaning don't take chances in life because youll fail totally a negative song. But I was so caught up in it until Jesus opened my spiritual eyes.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

The first part, Only There to do You Harm. These are the Drug Pushers or Molesters. Don't Write in Starlight. Putting yourself out there for all to see. Don't Hide in Doorways You May Find the Key That Opens Up Your Soul. I picture a person grabbed from behind and you never see them again. Don't Smell the Flowers They're an Evil Drug To Make You Lose Your Mind. Drug Addiction. If you breathe in too deeply you will be hooked with no escape. Don't Dream of Women 'Cause They'll Only Bring You Down. If you chase after the unattainable, you will be broke and miserable(Strippers and High Maintenance). Hey You ,You Know Me, You've Touched Me, I'm Real. Junkie that sees you from the alley and who longs to be free. You've lost touch with this person, you think of them but are oblivious to their plight. I'm Forever the One That Lets You Look and See. And Feel me I'm Danger, I'm the Stranger. And I, I'm Darkness, I'm Anger, I'm Pain. I Am Master, the Evil Song You Sing Inside Your Brain. Drive You Insane. The Drug Pusher tempting you every time. Don't Talk, Don't Let 'Em Inside Your Brain. Run, Run Away Girl!! Two men or a group of men have stopped a woman, trying to surround her and grab her if she doesn't run NOW!! Don't Dance in Darkness. You May Stumble and You're Sure To Fall. Devil Worship, Sacrifice or any Pagan ritual. Don't Talk To Strangers. 'Cause They're Only There To Make You Sad. Value Family over Friends or they will use you over and over again.
