Dio: The Chains Are On Meaning
The Chains Are On Lyrics
-
Clearly, if you look at the lyrics, the song seems to be referring to aliens, who arrived to enslave the ancient Egyptians. This is evident from the lines about how you see them walking on the water and flying through the sky. The aliens were apparently humanoid and had colored eyes. The enslavement was the result of the aliens, because it says, it was a paradise, until the strange ones came, then the chains were on. Therefore the strange ones were the aliens, and they enslaved the Egyptians thus ending the magical time.

Another amazingly awesome song by the one and only, who was once called Ronnie James Dio. About the sad history of what happened to the people of Egypt. On the once called Land Of The Gods. That were worshiped as Family Ancestors. All of what was made in the image of Heaven On Earth. That was sadly destroyed by ''The Strange Ones'', which I think They were also called Foreign Invaders. Foretold to come in ''The Prophecy Of Hermes Trismegistus''. In that They would plunder and destroy. MAKING The Gods leave the Earth for Heaven. And ever since then MAKING the people of the FREE feel that ''the chains were on them'' to be passed on most of US ever since.

The people were free when a different people with different cultures & religious beliefs some bordering on voodoo,or magic enslaved the people. They didn't lose hope even with nothing to look forward to and being chained.
