#1 top rated interpretation:He's reminding his girl about the times she use to call "him". Called him on his cellphone late at night, cause he was the man she wanted and preferred. He is wondering what happen to those times. He knew when "she" called him late night, she was calling to have sex. So when the phone rang that late at night it only meant one thing, a booty call. He misses those times and what happen to that..

Hotline Bling - aka Anthem of the Side Guy
This is the typical side piece story. She only
calls him after she is done at the Club and wants a booty call. He appears to not know that she is out Clubbing because when he hears reports about it, he is surprised. She hasn't introduced him to her friends and doesn't ask him to go Clubbing with her.
She was central to his life while he was merely incidental to hers.
Is is a cautionary tale for people to avoid those who treat them as an afterthought especially in the sexual arena but told from a man's point of view.
I was surprised to hear a popular singer crooning about being a Side Guy. Normally they sing about all the gals that they need to push off with a stick.

I think drake has a cellular device that transmit sound from one cellular device to another allowing two or more people to talk to each other without having to be by each other!

The song talks about a man and a lady who are into one another and can't stay separated for a second. Even if they got separated for a second, her call always remind him dat she still wants more and more from him because she isn't satisfied with the rounds they have.

He fucked someone on a table and snorted crack out of there fucking asshole.
-
He misses having phone sex with her and wishes he could have it back when she found herself a new man
-
Drake made dank memes until he left the city, then those memes were less dank
-
Hotline bling is about a guy who had a nice girl but when he left the city she started acting slutty.
-
I think that:You used to call me on my cellphone late night when you need meh love refreers to calling him to have sax.

This saong is about an insecure young man who can't deal with the fact that his girlfriend has liberated herself from his sexist stranglehold. She decides, in the manner of a liberated woman, a feminist that she doesn't want to be his good girl but she wants to free to do as she wishes with her body and her mind. She will no longer submit to being his "good girl" who stays home devoting herself to a man who is probably on the road chasing girls himself. In a way, the song flips the old traditional dynamic with the man left brokenhearted and wishing for the the old days to come back. Those days have been long gone. And rather than weeping and moaning about "you used to call me on my cellphone", he needs to recognize the right of a woman to be from from romantic or sexual enslavement. That's all.

Late night when you need my love- if you don't understand this you need help.
