Be Like You Lyrics

Unhappy days, that left us on, the floor.
Ad you Breathe me, till you're not feeling sure. Everything will brighten up. If we go to Brighton I'll take you along the, I Pier. Everything will lighten up. If you feel to frightened I'll, make it...

About 3 years ago I thought this song was about Ed missing a girl and wanting to be so close to her that he wanted to be like her but recently I stopped just singing along and actually paid attention to what I was saying.

My interpretation: To me the song is about a girl with an eating disorder and I believe that Ed is singing strictly from her point of view. When I listen I feel like it's the girl talking to her eating disorder as if it's a person (i.e., Anna aka anorexia). Unhappy days left them both on the floor (possibly after purging episode)... and when she misses Anna she stops eating food and squeezes into clothes to feel that rush again. The "squeezing" word deals with her body image distortion and believing she is big. Then once she makes changes to be like her alter self (anorexic) then she still feels depressed (bitter). Each chorus is almost like a relapse. When she looks in the mirror and sees this image she begins to miss how she felt when she was smaller and then engages in dangerous eating habits that only lead her to seeing her own bitterness towards her body.

Basically, I just think the song is about a girl battling with her eating disorder. I don't think it is about a dating relationship but an unhealthy relationship with self.

I was able to make sense of it better in my head! Lol... Anyways, I love how we all can come up with our own interpretations of a song.

This song is about the girl that he loves having an eating disorder and basically not loving herself, so Ed wants to "be like her" so he talks about not eating so he can squeeze into a dress and feel like her, to see why she feels so bitter.

This song is about his ex girlfriend she was anorexic hits the line "and I'll stop eatting food" and he wanted to see how she felt "squeeze into a dress" and I guess she became bitter because of the anorexica "and then I'll see your bitterness" but yea this song is about his ex.

yeah it's about Ed not knowing why this girl has left him so he wants to 'be like her' to see things from her point of view and why she is being so bitter to him and to see if these things like 'stop eating food' and 'squeezing into a dress' will make him as bitter as her. when he says 'i'll put you to the test'
and tells her that he loves her to try and make her stay. but when she doesnt he really wants to know why not so he be likes her

In my opinion, I think it's about the guy (Ed, in this case) who wants to learn why this girl is so bitter, so he wants to try to see life through her eyes.

i think they broke or she left him and he cant stop thinking about this girl and he cant understand why she left him or they broke up so he tries "to be like her" so he can understand why she left him i like this sing a lot even if i think its about a breakup

It's like he did something wrong and he wants to be like her so he can see her point of view and see his mistakes. And he misses her just thinks about the past :)

I think it's about an anorexic girl.
