Ed Sheeran: Gold Rush Meaning
Gold Rush Lyrics
I woke up, wiped the sleep out of my eyes
She left a note "I'll be back in 5"
Well, I'm still waiting for that moment to arrive, hey
I was told to put my job in front of you
But it won't hold me like you...

#1 top rated interpretation:Love this song :)!
I think it's about a guy who only wants the best for his girl, so he works really hard to bring in the money: "But I do it for the love, waiting on the gold rush." but in the process of being a work-a-holic, he forgets she needs him to be there for her, to love her "i was told to put my job in front of you, but it won't hold me like you do" so he's forgetting about her, he needs her to be there for him when he comes home from work but he isn't returing her love: "you know how to sing, but you don't know anything other than that, so maybe you should learn to love her, like like the way, you wanna be loved"
Thats how I interpret this song :)! -

#2 top rated interpretation:I think that this song is saying that he really wants to be with her and she left him because she couldn't take his job. It was taking up all of him, with no time left. He works so hard to provide, and he didn't want to lose her.
