   He basically meets up this girl with whom he has a one night stand. This girl is probably a prostitute whom he already knows very well. He being a struggling musician doesn't have food and shelter and so is dependent on her but is shy to tell her. After this whole one night stand scene he starts liking her and wants to be with her but he is not sure whether being with her is really going to be right or not, maybe he'll regret it later. So he's just really confused and scared of being alone or going home.

   I think that this song is about he being a homeless or something and he had one night with this girl after that he knowing that he doesn't have anywhere to go he keeps telling her he loves her so she will give him what he needs, he prefer to do even know he knows that he we'll regret it after because he knows he is just using her. But the chorus talks about another girl who I think EDD is in love with, so he wants her to know that she is the one he loves and that this other girl is just a one night stand. That is what I think.

   Ed meets "a local girl" and the whole situation starts off as a one night stand but i guess she's someone he already knows based off the line "no make-up cuz she knows me well" so maybe they've discussed that when they get high or there's a party, they'll be each other's hook up. and Ed being a struggling musician is in need of money and food but doesnt want to seem like a parasite or a free-loader to her so he tells her he loves her so she'll give hime what he needs... or maybe he does indeed love her :)
