Ellie Goulding: Lights Meaning
Lights Lyrics
I had a heart then but the queen has been overthrown
And I'm not sleeping now the dark is too hard to beat
And I'm not keeping now the strength I need to push me
You show the lights that stop me turn...
-
I think she is talking about an alien abduction senario...
-
I think its about a rebellion and shes going into battle. She's trying to be strong and at the end she either dies or goes home beause it says, "cause they're calling calllin calling me home. ic ould be completly off but idk.
-
I think most of y'all are mental.....in her interview, she said its about being afraid of the dark....I think the people that think its about abuse need to see a psychiatrist.....seriously......
-
The interview on YouTube with Ellie says the song simply talks about how she was scared to sleep in the dark
-
about growing up, letting out your vulnerabilities and learning boundaries of who to be safe with and learning the lessons of life. wanting things to be as easy as they are when you are young - going thru difficult times and finding strength within.... how being strong (stone) within is as simple as seeing the light within and being strong regardless! your heart is on your shoulder but keeping it closer than you ever thought it needed/ had to be than you ever thought.... yet having peace with where you are now. strength is not easy when going thru obstacles.... maintain and believe in yourself.

Illuminati... Just research it
-
I think this son is about either alien abduction or sexual abuse of children.

She lives someone and they are.what.save.her from.the darkness. They left her and she.still dreams and lives him. He's her.escape back home. Bpd
-
Hmm... Aliens and getting abducted. It pretty much fits in my opinion.
-
Some of the above interpretations I can understand,.but I personally think she speaks of the control a man has over her.. Could be her abuser or could be a lover whose grasp she cannot escape. I say this because this song speaks to me.. I am in a relationship where his light is "calling me home". "I had a heart then but the queen has been overthrown", he is now in control of her heart

For anyone that has studied Hatha Yoga it will ring a bell...she is talking about her guru. Her light.
When meditating you can lose yourself to the point where you don't know if you are still breathing. It is also a goal of an aspiring yogi or yogini to be able to sit in complete stillness, like stone, in order to connect to the light within. Only by finding that still place will all be revealed. All will be understood.
In yoga, someone who meditates and follows a guru, practices knowing the difference between dreaming, sleep, and reality and not the aggregate of elements.
When we were children we were the closest we have ever been to "the Divine"...over time we drift away from our true self and concern ourselves with things that, in the end, are really not that important. Therefore we feel lost...homesick. We yearn for something we cannot describe. This yearning is your guru, your light, calling you back home...to the "Divine" ... To your source...
What is important is that we let our light shine, even in moments when we feel like there is no hope, or we when we feel alone, because we are never alone. The Divine is within us. The light is within us. Guru is with us.
"Live light, travel light, be the light, spread the light." -Yogi Bhajan

She already did a interview A year before the first idiot started discussing how he/she is trying to make a song fit them and how they allowed themselves to be sexually molested and how they touched did things to their bed-ridden grandparents when they were asleep.....

It sounds kind of like abuse but Ellie actually meant for it to be about her fear of the dark.
