Evanescence: Bring Me To Life Meaning
Song Released: 2003
Bring Me To Life Lyrics
Leading you down into my core
Where I’ve become so numb
Without a soul
My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home
(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I...

I think she is a prospective vampire and the man she is talking to is the one to turn her.

The first time I heard this song I thought it was about someone in a coma. Oftentimes you hear about people who have been in a coma for weeks/months/years and when they come out of it, they have expressed that while they couldn't move, talk, or communicate, they were partially conscious of what was going on around them. I can only imagine what that must feel like...silently begging someone who is right in front of you to wake you up. I know this is more of a literal (rather than figurative) interpretation, but since no one mentioned it already, I thought I'd throw it in here!

i think that what evanescence is trying to say is that you know when your asleep its like your dead because you dont know whats going on around you, and when your awake your alive because your awake and you do know what going on around you. well...in the video clip its like shes trying to wake up from that nightmare which means she wants that guy to safe her and bring her back to life, like wake her up and stop her from dreaming :)

I belive that these lyrics try to explain the feeling of emptiness left behind when someone that we love leaves.
The feeling that our soul also left with that person, and that we're nothing that way. Just an empty, cold, dark thing.
And, to live (not just to survive), we need that person to be with us, by our side.
That, basically, that someone is everyting we are. -

A girl who fears of her loneliness. It says "wake me up," several times, so I assume she wants to feel alive again - M
It's about someone who was dumped. She is asking for someone else to get with her because it says "breathe into me" and then she says "don't let me die here. There must be something more." That means that she doesn't want to end her life there, just because she got dumped. - L
I think she's really unhappy and after she found what she was looking for she doesn't want to lose him, or what she is missing, because then she is going to be unhappy and have a dull life. For example: "Now that I know that I'm without you can't just leave me. Breathe into me and make me real." - Z -
I say its about Ben Moody, if anyone here thinks there was never anything more than friendship there.. well then your nuts, but it is SOOO not about GOD!!!

This song reminds me of vampires, especially the first verse:
'Without a soul, my spirit sleeping somewhere cold...' etc etc etc and whatnot.
This is one of my favourite Evanescences. -
Oh and also Evanescence was at one point labelled a Christian rock band, although basically they said that wasn't what their intentions were. On the other hand heaps of their songs can be viewed in a Christian viewpoint which is interesting. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

even though i know Evanescance isn't a christian band, i can't help but think in a way this song is written to god, though in no way is it to glorify him.
