Evanescence: Bring Me To Life Meaning
Song Released: 2003
Bring Me To Life Lyrics
Leading you down into my core
Where I’ve become so numb
Without a soul
My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home
(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I...

I just want to add to the last person....the "empty" inside, the numbness...it's someone with BPD Borderline Personality Disorder. They are looking for someone to save them because they have an empty soul.
-
I think it's about a guy who she loves and he's taking over her. But...He doesn't lover her back. ya know,
without a soul
my spirit sleeping somewhere cold
UNTIL U FIND IT THERE AND LEAD IT BACK HOME!
and the don't let me die here part? She means she can't live without him! If he's not here? What's she gonna do? That's my interpretation. DEAL WIT IT! -
To be honest, I really think the song title kind of speaks for itself. That is what I think.
-
"Bring Me to Life", is inspired by an incident that occurred while she was sitting in a restaurant. Lee has also recently stated that the song was written about her old friend, and now husband, Josh.

I Kinda agree with the whole god thing....If you sit back and really look at the lyrics....
"Without a soul
My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home"
Soul...Spirit...things about god...
"All of this time, I can't believe I couldn't see
Kept in the dark, but you were there in front of me"
About finding god...he's always there though you can't see...When someone finds god...they sometimes refer to an awakening...and finally being able to see..
"Without a thought, without a voice, without a soul
Don't let me die here
There must be something more"
Referring to Life after death...don't let me die here, there has to be something more, something after this life.
"Wake me up inside
Call my name and save me from the dark"
referring to god by meaning...show me the way, guide me to the light and save me from the darkness of sin. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

In an interview I heard that amy said it's about waking up and the world has somehow changed but then I heard that it was about her fiance josh before they even started going out. She really liked him and she wrote this song about him. and good enough is about josh too which is so sweet because the first song that made them famous was bring me to life and the last song on the open door is about him too so I think that they will definitely be happy together. Personaly I feel like this about my boyfriend!xxx

She is singing about God.

I find that music isn't there to see it as the artist does. Everyone may have different interpretations of said song, but in the long run it all leads to the same path. The path of belonging, everyone belongs in thier own individual way. I don't disagree with any of you on these subjects, I think they are all very reasonable point of views. It's a formula most musicians want to use, use certain aspects of your own life and globalize it for the public. I know this was off subject, but I just had to get that off my chest. thanks.

none of them are right
its about being numb to the world and then someone comes along and gives you a feeling that you have never experienced before which 'wakes her up inside' and in the part where she sings "NOW THAT I KNOW WHAT I'M WITHOUT YOU CANT JUST LEAVE ME HERE, BREATHE INTO ME AND MAKE ME REAL" is how she dosent want to lose the person and the feeling and the 'breathe into me and make me real' is like 'make me happy again, stay with me'
'frozen inside without your touch' shows what I mean the best -
Basically the song is saying that life without you is a void. That you bring life into a lifeless soul. Without you I have nothing to look forward to, nothing but darkness.
"save me" = help me escape
"bring me to life" = fill the void in my life -
I think this song is about how amy feels so unhappy. This unhappiness makes her feel dead inside so she is beckoning to the world 'wake me up inside....Save me from the dark.....Save me from the nothing I've become....Frozen inside.....Don't let me die here' she is asking to be happy once again.
-
I know one thing about this song, so I will explain it. Supposedly, Amy Lee was sitting in a restauraunt, and a stranger came up to her, looked in her eyes, and asked her if she was happy. She new she wasn't, and had to make a change. Now, the beginning part "How can you see into my eyes, like open doors?" refers to her asking the man how he looked into her eyes and basically new she wasn't happy.
