Godsmack: Asleep Meaning
Asleep Lyrics
-
Well said. My interpretation is the same since I'm feeling the same way as well. Song on repeat for hours does wonders.

I think interpretations are left to individuals (what 'you' get out of it). It is nice to know where the artist is drawing their inspiration, nevertheless it is nice to have your own idea about it (meaning for it). To 'me'; this song is about a betrayal of a relationship. "wait a minute, can't you see what this pain has done to me" (how can you just go about your life while I'm in misery, like this pain you've created means nothing to you). I'm alive but i'm slipping" (can't take much more of this). "what you see I cannot see and maybe you'll think before you speak" ( the way you see life, or what you've done, I don't see that way or don't understand it that way). "take a second. turn your back on me, and make me believe" (make me believe this relationship is more than it is,, but you turn your back on me every chance you get). "it's safe to say you're never alive. A big part of you has died, and by the way, I hope you're satisfied" (you are never "alive" (your life is sh*t) a big part of you has died (us...or something from your past has detroyed you as a person)... now that you are sad with what you've done "i hope you're satisfied!!" you will never get back what you had, and I'm gone... forever). "i'm alive" (i'm still standing) "for you, i'm awake" (i see things differently now). "because of you i'm alive" (now I can live my own way because of what you've done). on and on... again, this is just what it means to me (and probably always will), nevrtheless, i would love to know Sully's reasoning behind it all. ;)
