Gorillaz: El Manana Meaning
Song Released: 2002
El Manana Lyrics
Eager man, that's all
Summer don't know me
He just let me love in my sea
'Cause I do know, love
From you that, just dieing
I saw that day
Lost my mind
Lord, I'm fine
Maybe, in time
You'll want to be...

#1 top rated interpretation:Alright I am analyzing the music video rather than the song because Idk the video just really spoke to me.
Here Noodle is just sitting on her beautiful little floating island when for some reason some helicopters come and destroy it.
I feel like this video is simply saying that the world destroys anything that is unique and different from the rest of the world no matter how beautiful it is. If it is deemed not normal, it needs to be eliminated.
I feel like this is talking about people mostly. Gorillaz really push individuality and not conforming to the crowd. I really think this is talking about how hard it is for society to accept people that walk to the beat of their own drum. People who are unique and beautiful in a way that may not be "popular" -
2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:My favorite interpretation is that the singer (2D) is singing of the death of someone he cares for (Noodle) and is filled with grate sorrow.
-
Not really the lyrics I'm talking about here but to me the video represents how big companies and governments (helicopters) are "shooting down" our freedom (noodle's island)
-
This song is about war and how different some people to others and they dont like noodle being free and they don't like noodle being happy.in feel good inc 2-D like noodle so he wants to be her but at the same time he is warning noodle but she cant hear him but she the group thinks she dead but she is not because noodle leaves before the bomb drops
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
hmm I think this video means is:2-d is looking out da window in feel good inc because he wants to be free like noodle! Then noodle isn't free anymore,As u see she is part of a super soldier thing and the others were were wiped out by the government.Noodle was the lone survivor cuz she was with the gorillaz. So for that reason, the helicopters attacked her.Hoped that helped!
-
Look up the Shakespear play Romeo and Juliet. That is the best interpretation out there.
-
its linked to feel good inc when 2-d thought about being free in feel good inc after seeing noodle on the island at the end of that vid they sent heli. to kill her to keep 2-d under control. but there could be more than one messege in this song.
-
The lyrics should be:
He just let me love in myself
Cos I do know love from you that just died...
Maybe in time, you'll want to be mine.
It's about unrequited love and/or love lost and pined-for. -
from the video you see Noodle sitting on her island floating and just free, when just out of the blue the helicopters which to me represent the government taking away Noodles freedom, and as she doesn't want to give it up they destroy it so doesn't even get a choice, obviously this cant be seen lyric wise but from the video
-
In my opinion its noodles (the bassist) in her ship bein brought down by "helicopters" bad love and lookin for a new start when the "helicopter" shoot her down.
