H.I.M: When Love and Death Embrace Meaning
When Love and Death Embrace Lyrics
And it's crushing my heart
All I want is you
To take me into your arms
When love and death embrace
I love you
And you're crushing my heart
I need you
Please take me into your arms
When love and death...

Like any other HIM's song, i think "when love and death embrace" it's where Ville find his inspiration, somewhere in the middle, there where miracles happens. It's like a handshake between two extremities of human nature, like asserting oneself for who he is, like accepting though you are an angel, you may be indeed an angel of death, like the only way is the middle way, the only path is in between, like a pure black, a dark light or a beautiful deadly light in the sky, like two sides of the same knife, two sides of the same coin. To be complete you must accept all sides of your true nature, to open your soul you must go beyond the good and the evil, beyond all of your pains and excitements, beyond all bias and fears, there in heaven, where only God worries about God's work.
[personally i think love once brought death to Ville's soul, later he learned to love that death, and so, he found his way outta that hell] -
It means: "I love you but I can't be with you now....but after death we will be together."
I was told to listen to this track, by a guy that I was in love with, but he had just had a baby boy - with another girl whom he didn't love (although he ADORED his baby son)......His emotions were all over the place. 7 years later, and I still believe that we will be together one day! -
in the song the narrator IS "death" and the other person is "love". he is dead already and is asking love to hold him.

This song is a contrast of Life and Death. Which is what the band HIM is all about. Contrast. Open-mindedness. Looking to the other side. Some people can just see it as a song about Love and Death. But I see it as something more. I see it as a uniting of two contrasts any two contrasts to make and form One, the cause, Harmony. HIM and the band's songs is about finding Balance. And that balance could be found in any number of ways, depending on the character of the person. It is about opening our mind to new possibilities, seeing what wasn't there before, embracing that someting new as the missing part of Ourselves, in order to find Harmony.

It can have several meanings. One is the obvious: obsession with death. If you personify "love" and "death", it'll make a little more sense ("love" being the narrator). Or if you want to go a little deeper, it can mean that the actual death HAS happened already (most likely from suicide because he/she was so obsessed with it), and so now both love and death are together.
