James Blunt: Three Wise Men Meaning
Three Wise Men Lyrics
Won't you tell me what the Wise Men said?
When they came down from Heaven,
Smoked nine 'til seven,
All the shit that they could find,
But they couldn't escape from you,
Couldn't be free of you,
And now...

This song seems of the variety that is left intentionally vague and easily interpreted in different ways. The notion of 3 "wise men" who fall from grace by virtue of drug addiction seems to fit well, though for the more sociologically minded you might take another view, that of the biblical three wise men being nothing more than normal people, living their lives and trying to do things right within the context of normal human life. Inevitably though, they were all too human, caught up in a trap partly of their own making (the politics of religion, perhaps) and left a legacy that has had its fair share of blood on its hands. Then again perhaps that's all reading too much into it, but I've been listening to his other songs this morning, No Bravery in particular, and I guess I'm drawing some parallels.
