You're Beautiful Lyrics

My life is brilliant

"Musical pause"

My life is brilliant,
My love is pure,
I saw an angel,
Of that I'm sure,
She smiled at me on the subway,
She was with another man,
But I won't lose no sleep on that,
'Cause I've got a...

The girl he sees on the subway with another man is his ex girlfriend. She's beautiful!! They exchange stares but do not speak...... Apparently the way it turns out (bless his heart) she dumped him b/c he had a drug problem. If you've heard the unedited version you'll hear "she could tell by my face that I was fucking high!!!" so let me back up now in the beginning he says he seen her w/ another man but he won't lose no sleep on that b/c he's got a plan.......... Right he's just gna commit suicide.......... Deep shit huh? Okay so in tha video he's freezing standin in the snow by a cliff where he takes off all his clothes takes everything out of his pockets and jumps off the cliff. He'd rather die than not have his beautiful girl!!

This might sound a little far-fetched but I think it's about someone he saw on the subway that caught his eye, but she was with someone ('I don't think that I'll see her again but we shared a moment that will last till the end') The part where it says 'She could see from my face that I was fucking high' I think means she could tell he was into her (high off her) not because of him being actually high.
At the beginning he says 'Cause I've got a plan' aka the song is his plan to find that girl (Cinderella much?) but by the end he realized he'd never be with her ('But it's time to face the truth, I will never be with you')

my interpretation for this song is...
this guy knows this beautiful girl but she's already taken... and she only thinks him as a fun friend. but he is deeply in love with her but there is no possibility for him and her to be in a relationship. first, the guy thought that it is totally fine for just looking at her and love her secretly....but as time goes by.. the love for her gets bigger and bigger... but he notices that if he truly loved her, he has to wish her the best. thats it. and so he faces that. the "plan" is to make her happy.

overall he is a weak man that fell in the most deepest love and trying to be strong...by loving her more

Maybe He got high and saw his dead girlfriend in form of an angel at the subway and maybe the other man is actually another angel

I see a guy who has a fleeting moment/connection when happening upon and looking into the eyes of a stranger he is mesmerized by. Maybe he was high on drugs, or maybe he was so captivated and moved by what happened when their eyes met, that he 'felt' high. The moment they shared lives on only in his memory of her. The longing and realization that he would never have more than that memory of her haunts him...to the point of agony, apparently powerful enough that he chooses to end his life along with the pain of knowing they would never be. Maybe he knows they will never be together because of the other man, or because of the man he feels he's not. You can plug in a few analogies in this song, which is why I thing it resonates with so many people.

i think the part where he lays out his things is ancient chinese or japanese ritual performed before comitting suicide, or so i've read! it's a great song whether he's comittingsuicide or not!! :-D

The interpretation of the song has a much deeper meaning than just his love for this beautiful girl.
He Starts of saying "MY LIFE IS BRILLIANT"
-This is is a message for who he really is and what he believes. His achievements and belief in himself.
    At the end he says:
"But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you".
In this he personifies himself as someone who has the strength to face reality and still be strong.

I don't think that the song is about hi ex-girlfriend, because he sings "I will never be with you"

Hes on the way to commit suicide when he sees the girl and fantasizes that this could be his reason not to because he sees beauty in the living whereas most people taking this step have lost all hope in finding that beauty. At the end he realises its just a fantasy, another false hope and goes ahead and does it.

It's basically about how he fell in love with a lady who he saw on the subway and she was with someone else. He thought she was beautiful, but he knew he'd never be with her. It's based on his ex who I guess he still liked but he saw she moved on to another guy already.
He difinantly commited suicide in the video. I assume that's his "plan".

One of my favorites from Blunt's new album "All The Lost Souls".

For me, this song is about the end of a relationship - breaking up and moving on. It's the "last dance" and "last goodbye". The "silence" that "greets the last goodbye" represents the inability to find the right words to say (“the words I need”). The truth, however, is reflected in the eyes (“I see it in your eyes”) - the proverbial window to the soul… indicating the other person both “sees” and recognizes that it’s time to let go. However, that the first line is a question "Is it our last dance?" reveals an uncertainty.

These failed relationships have left behind a drop of cynicism for love and romance – “same old moves” and “same old lies” can be used to start a “new romance” but these lines suggest the “same old” ending will result.

The “they" in the chorus refer to the fleeting promises of everlasting love; when you “close your eyes, they’ll all be gone”, unable to stand the test of time. The promises of love were “sold out” – deceived, broken and unfulfilled. The “screaming and shouting” reveal the pain of broken promises.

The promise of eternal love is like god – something revered and believed in but intangible and perhaps on a pedestal so high that it is unreachable. But promises serve this purpose without choice (as “slaves”).

The chorus…”keep shining/keep smiling” is a message to move on and to keep on loving. The line “shine on” suggests illumination, light, clarity and the imagery of the sun brings warmth - both embody what it’s like to have love in your life. “You and I just shone”, you and I just loved.

Even though relationships sometimes don’t work out, it’s never a waste of time because it gives us “a cloud to dance on” and brings us closer to that seemingly unreachable “god” in the sky – a love that will last forever.

I think the water represents a vagina, and he really wants to be back in his girls vagina again. Cause that's where she's really beautiful. But he can't get into that vagina, so he gets really high and kills himself.

Um, yeah, Anonymous, the guy's a drug addict. They can't keep their minds on any one task for very long most of the time. As for this girl of his, if he loved her so much, why didn't he treat her better, for Christ's sakes? I know too many loser drug-addict assholes who apologize for their misbehavior by saying, "But I was high" and then repeating the same mistake again. That's why when someone does that to me, I just don't talk to them or date them again.

His song doesn't make sense to me, it says in the first or second verse. "I have a plan" Then in the chorus he says "And I don't know what to do" But if he had a plan then shouldn't he KNOW what he is going to do???

    Please help on this???

Oh and I am liking the suicide theory, it would fit.

His emptying his pockets and taking off his clothes before jumping into the water - that's actually a suicide thing. People take off their shoes, fold their clothes neatly, and leave all their belongings in a pile on a bridge then jump off. Leaving all that stuff & the wallet with ID is like the lazy dude's version of a suicide letter.

Many of James Blunt's songs relate to drugs. one is pretty flat out and is called "High", on the cover of his cd there is some sort of pill. Also, my favorite line in the song is "she could see from my face that I was f***ing high"

And the end where he sez "but its time to face the truth... I will never be with you.." -- suicide??

As I see it he just sees a girl some girl he just saw he doesn't know her or anything related.
He just saw her and thought she was extremely beautiful, at the end he just got him self killed because she was with another guy I think he just wanted a lot of drama xD however the song it's good
