The Edge of Glory Lyrics

There ain’t no reason you and me should be alone
Tonight, yeah baby
Tonight, yeah baby
I got a reason that you’re who should take me home tonight

I need a man that thinks it’s right when it’s so wrong
Tonight, yeah baby
Tonight, yeah...

Written right after her grandfather's funeral, the song is from the point of view of her grandmother, watching her husband (Gaga's grandfather) on his deathbed, and feeling like together, they won at life.

maybe her end of life, and wantin to be with the man she loved but left behind, before the circumstances changed. a man she still loves dearly, but whom she feels she can no longer be with, because the loss would kill him too, a man who keeps searching, but as no way of knowing the true facts of what is happening, but knows she is ill,a man who cant let go, even though his curiosity may kill him. He feels its is right to know and to be there and ressurect, the love, even though for her it feels so wrong, he beleives it is so right??

The Edge of Glory is a rip off of when Stevie Nicks sat bedside with her dying Uncle and wrote The Edge of 17. The latter is beautifully poetic, and should be considered one of humankind's greatest works of art. The Edge of Glory, on the other hand, is just a hodgepodge of trite popular music lines woven together with Ga Ga singing "The Edge" over and over... annoyingly.

Gaga is seeing this guy,but she does'nt know where she stands with him...on this night she just wants to be with him no matter the circumstances, just being with him is glorious, but within this glorious feeling of being with him.As she decides to push him to the edge she is left hanging at the moment where he has to decide to tell the truth, whether he can love her or not.and they can be at a place where their feelings are at the peak(edge) of glory.

ok. this song hit me like a ton of bricks because I can relate. Heres my interpretation....this may or may not have anything to do with gaga personally. she could have written for anyone. Its about a woman who is having an affair, and gets a rush from pushing the dangerous. The man she craves, keeps her hanging on every moment, most likely because their visits together are few and far between, and the sex is hot. Together they are on the edge of glory. Another shot of booze before they kiss the other side could mean getting hammered before their crazy sex session(the other side could mean the other side of monogamy)Anyway, thats my lame theory. It fits tho. great song hands down

When the girl dies she wants to die with the boy she loves and they will die together in love and it is the edge of glory but the beginning of great love.

Ok, so did anyone but me associate this song with having an orgasm? Before I read all the grandfather comments, that is the first thing I thought while reading the lyrics.
"The edge of glory" is her about to climax. "it's time to feel the rush".. come on! Plus it's Lady Gaga, so anything is possible.
"I need a man that thinks it’s right when it’s so wrong
    Tonight, yeah baby
    Tonight, yeah baby
Right on the limits where we know we both belong tonight"
Seems about sex to me, guys..

Her granddaddy is on the edge of going to heaven! She wants him to be with Jesus and God.

But when she sings "I need a man that things its right when its so wrong" Its her grandmommy speaking.

When its "I'm on the edge with you" He wants her also to be in Heaven.

"Pull on your shades ’cause I’ll be dancing in the flames
It doesn’t hurt ’cause everybody knows my name tonight"
Okay we all know the songs is about death. The first part of the quote above from the song signifies she is going to hell.
The second part is she does not care as she has fame. If you put both of them together you can understand what she is trying to say. She actually sold her soul to Satan in exchange for fame.

My interpretation was that of meeting a new love interest and being on the edge, of possibly starting a new relationship and being out and having fun. Like you've gone out you've found what you wanted and its that rush before you start something serious.

I do understand where the grandpa part comes into it though.

If you think this song was inspired by her grandgather, you're nuts. Sounds to me like she's on the edge of an orgasm or something. Seriously, it's not that deep. She's living on the edge of life.
