Melanie Martinez: Pity Party Meaning
Pity Party Lyrics
Why'd I put my heart on every cursive letter?
Tell me why the hell no one is here
Tell me what to do to make it all feel better
Maybe it's a cruel joke on me
Whatever, whatever
Just means there's way more cake...

So CryBaby gives invites to her birthday party but no one comes. So she cries as seen in lyrics " Ill cry till the candles burn down this place" so clearly she is sad that know one cares but she thinks that they are pulling a prank on her. So Im guessing that now she is trying to make new friends and i new guy to fall in love with.
-
She talks about ow when she was little no one showed up to her parties, and she talks about how she thinks that they probably were playing pranks on her, or didn't like her.
-
I feel it is about her party not going great. But... More than that... She now feels as though she cannot trust anyone because no body showed up to her party she had high hopes for. She feels like she has no social status anymore.
-
Pity Party is about Melanie's 3rd birthday patry. She wanted Barney the dinosaur to come, but the costume was (and I quote) "sketchy and didn't look professional". Melanie ended up crying for the whole day.
-
I think she's a miserable person who wants company... The birthday party is a metaphor for something fun so in the video she's not just crying... A pity party is when you're really sad... She obviously wanted someone to join her loneliness so she invited them... Nobody wanted to share in the sadness so she destroyed everything in a temper tantrum

The song is based on that she invited kids from her neighbor hood but no one showed up because people didnt know her and thought she was crazy and weird and she threw a fit about it and that is why the song is called pity party. Also, all she wanted is to have a party and make friends.
-
Cry Baby is based on herself and her (she made a character for herself named Cry Baby) childhood, Pity Party means she invited the boy she liked to her party and he didn't show up to it, therefore she is going crazy because of how much time it took her to put the party together and no one was there to enjoy it with her.
-
My interpretation is that she's been struggling with depression and all of the emotion inside her built up and exploded because of that party.
-
She invites a bunch of people to her birthday party, goes to so much trouble making it perfect, and nobody shows up. She is really upset and throws herself a pity party, having emotions like anger and sadness, depression and not caring.
-
She invited people to her party and nobody showed up for it..
-
I do agree, about her being lonely. She obviously wants to party, have fun, play; Doing what you usually do at a birthday party. Maybe since no one had showed up to her party, she decided to throw herself a 'Pity Party'; because she feels sorrow or a misfortune that the people she had invited didn't show up. And maybe during the video she regretted inviting, it's probably why she freaked out and destroyed everything; besides the fact no one showed up.
-
I feel like it's a little bit deeper than what it seems like. No one comes to her party, she lonely. I think that it's like She's depressed and no one is there but then she accept that she'll be lonely, like it's "more cake for me"!? Maybe idk
-
This song means that she's all alone and have no friends to celebrate her birthday. Therefor she throws a "pity party" to drown her sorrows by herself
