Alphabet Boy Lyrics

You're always aiming paper airplanes at me when you're around
You build me up like building blocks just so you can bring me down
You can crush my candy cane but you'll never catch me cry
If you dangle that diploma and I deck you, don't be...

This song is about someone who used to help her write songs. She says she no longer needs his help as she can write her songs herself.
If you notice the first four lines of the first and the second verse they have an alliteration of the letters A,B,C and D respectively
    like:
"You're ALWAYS AIMING paper AIRPLANES AT me when you're AROUND
You raise me up like BUILDING BLOCKS just so you can BRING me down
You CAN CRUSH my CANDY CANE but you'll never CATCH me CRY
If you DANGLE that DIPLOMA and I DECK and you DON'T be surprised"
    Second verse:
"APPLES AREN'T ALWAYS APPROPRIATE in APOLOGIES
BUTTERSCOTCH and BUBBLEGUM drops are BITTERSWEET to me
You keep CALLING me a CHILD while you keep COUNTING all your COINS
You're not my DADDY and I'm not your DOLLY and your DICTIONARY'S DESTROYED"

    How witty!!
She showed them she's worth it!!

It's about her old songwriter who would always act superior to her. SO basically in this song she's saying "I don't fucking care if you have a songwriting degree, I can write my own songs"

After what happened during Carus Crybaby decided to break up with him (Alphabet boy). She also proves that she is just as smart as him.

In a interview she explain that alphabet boy was based off a boy she used to date in college and he's trying to teach her how to write music as if she was doing it wrong which made Melanie furious

I think it's about people dumbing things down for her/women in general i got this from the lyrics: "you won the spelling bee now? but are you smarter than me now?"

I think it is about a kid who bullied Melonie for not being as smart as him. It says in the song, "I know my ABCs, yet you keep teaching me. I say f**k your degree, Alphabet Boy." I think he maybe tutored her just to pick on her. So, when she grew up she decide to write the song to tell him she doesn't care.

I thought this song was about a mentally challenged/handicap child? Talking about how schools treat them like the stupid and like toddlers

Melanie had dated someone before who thought they knew everything about writing songs. They tried to tell Melanie how to write their own songs. This made Melanie furious and upset about how he thought they couldn't make their own songs "correctly".

I think this song is in the view of a student who doesn't like school, and is called a kid by everyone there. The student doesn't like being babied like that, and Melanie tries to express this in this song. The message she's trying to say is: "Let people be normal, and don't keep treating them like babies forever, treat them like how they are now." The reason I think this is because of the lyrics; "I'm not a little kid now. Watch me grow big now" and "I know my ABC's." Plus, in the YouTube thumbnail, it's shown with her suckling a pacifier, proving my point that the student has been babied at one point, like, treated like a baby.

when i first heard it i thought it was about her older brother or guyfriend. they are very sexist and assume that crybaby is stupid and they can brag about all their achievements to her and then expect her to be impressed.

i think this is set when she was younger, so probably not in a relationship, as the song says they are 'the prince of the playground', and playgrounds are very childish things at schools.

in this song crybaby is standing up for herself and showing that she can be very smart and can maybe achieve more than this alphabet boy if she puts her mind to it.

Crybaby's boyfriend believes he is smarter than her, and tries to 'teach' her, but knows it annoys her. Crybaby has had it, and stands up for herself and stays strong. This is actually based off Melanie's ex-boyfriend, who would tell her how to write songs.

Crybaby has a abusive boyfriend who wants to help her write songs. But she wants to write songs herself. Her boyfriend treats her like a child and tries to control her.

In the song she calls her boyfriend "Alphabet Boy" cause he thinks he writes songs better then she does. And he thinks he should write the lyrics. Crybaby is pretty upset at him and wishes he would stop.

Another thing I noticed quite interesting about this song is that there's alliteration in the song of A, B, C and D. Both of the verses in the song are like that. Such as "Always Aiming paper Airplanes At me when you're Around".

I think this song is singing about a bad boyfriend who's trying to teacher the girl how to write songs. But she doesn't want his help. She could also be telling a boy she doesn't want him controlling her all the time.

I don't think that this song is about songwriting specifically. I think that it's about growing up and trying to get people to understand that you don't need their help anymore. It says, "I'm not a little kid now, watch me get big now," which is like she's explaining that I don't need you anymore or exactly what it says in the lyrics, I'm not a little kid now and I don't need you telling me what to do, how to do it or anything else. It's like with my parents. They're overprotective and don't understand that I'm old enough to do things on my own. That's what she's trying to explain.

This song is about Johnny (the boy from Caurasoul and Soap... And Play Date and Training Wheels) who is Crybaby's ex. He's trying to get her back, but he only uses her for sex, and he tells her that he's smarter than her. Crybaby is trying to turn away from him, even though she might still love him a little. She doesn't want to be with someone who thinks she's an idiot and uses her for sex

Mealanie used to date someone who wanted to teach her how to write her songs and in alphabet boy she’s saying she doesn’t need help with her songs and doesn’t care that he has a degree in writing so they break up.
