Melanie Martinez: Cake Meaning
Cake Lyrics
Your
Your skin is warm like an oven
Your kiss is sugary sweet
Your fingers feel like cotton
When you put your arms around me
I feel like I'm just missing
Something whenever you leave
We've got all the...

#1 top rated interpretation:I actually know for a fact what the meaning of the song is. Crybaby (A fictional character that Melanie made up) lost her virginity to some boy (unknown). The boy didn't love her back, he just wanted her for sex. Later on, in a different song, Gingerbread Man, she changed her mind and wanted boys to love her body, not herself. This isn't my opinion either, it's literally what Melanie Martinez said the song was about. Of course, this didn't actually happen to her, it's just part of Crybaby's story.

#2 top rated interpretation:This song is about how Crybaby is in love with a boy. The boy takes advantage of her body and then leaves her. She is saying that she is not the type of girl for a hit-it-and-quit-it. She calls him a piece of meat to tell him that he is also easily replacable. A cake is hard to replace because of unique taste and design, but almost all meat is the same. Difference in type, but that's all.

#3 top rated interpretation:Cake is about cry baby being used by a boy for just sex and her body. “U smell just like vanilla u taste like buttercream “ this is cry baby saying that he seems sweet and good but is actually rotten. “Ur filling up my senses with empty calories” this means she knows he’s bad her inner voice is telling her to leave him but her heart doesn’t want to. “IM NOT A PEICE OF CAKE FOR U TO JUST DISCARD WHILE U WALK AWAY WITH THE FROSTING OF MY HEART SO IM TAKING BACK WHATS MINE YOU”LL MISS A SLICE OF HEAVEN THAT I GAVE TO U LAST NIGHT” this is crybaby getting sick of him using her and ends up confronting him but when she brings this up he walks away and Ignores her then she reminds him of the sex they had the “slice of heaven “ she gave to him. “If I’m just a piece of cake then ur just a piece of meat ur just a piece of meat to me” this is cry baby reminding him that if she’s just a toy so is he and he’s replaceable.

My interpretation of the song Cake by Melanie Martinez, is that the song is about being used for your body and sex. Only being seen as a piece of cake that you can just eat and then throw away like it's nothing.

I did listen to this song years ago, but after something happened between me and a boy, I found out I could relate to this song because when in the song, she sings "You're filling up my senses with empty calories", this means that she loves him, but he doesn't love her back, she was being used for his own satisfaction of pleasure.

Well, Crybaby is basically a song about a guy who only likes her for sex,as he truly has so heart for her. As he truly is someone who has no heart towards her as I said.
-
I think that this is a song about
someone who isn't committed to a relationship and isn't being serious about it, and is only together with Melanie for sex. She has decided she's had enough -
I think that it means that the girl loves the boy but the boy doesn't love he's only using her for what he wants which is her body he doesn't actually love her for her looks only for what he can get from her "sex" and when she says " I'm not a piece of cake for you to just discard while you walk away " she actually saying " I'm not just someone that you can use for what you want\ pleasure " then when she says that he walks away because he knows she's right then when she says " you're just a piece of you're just a piece of meat to me" she's saying that he is replaceable just as much as she is and if he wants to leave her that's fine by her and that's my opion.

Basically, the whole theme of this song is being used, or feeling used for sex. In the song, Melanie’s character, Crybaby, is sexually involved with this boy. To her, their relationship seems like everything is perfect. It ticks all the boxes, but, there is ONE thing she feels is missing. It’s the he fact that the boy doesn’t love her back. Once they’re done having sex, he doesn’t seem to care about her anymore. She realizes his true intentions, and she’s not happy. She no longer believes this boy is worthy of having access her body. She feels deeply regretful, because she gave herself up sexually for this boy she was so in love with, just for him to take advantage of her kindness. In the song, she’s taking back her power. She no longer wants to be used anymore.

This song is about a boy who Melanie is infatuated with. Later he shows his true colors to them, telling he only wants their body and not a relationship. They compare themselves to "cake" in the song saying they can't just be discarded so easily after seeing him.

Melanie put thought into every word of her song. When she says “Your skin is warm like an oven”, it describes his arm to the comfort of oven heat. “You’re kiss is sugary sweet” is comparing sugar to her lover’s lips when she kisses him. “Your fingers feel like cotton when you put your arms around me” is saying that his fingers are soft just like cotton. The whole verse is all about what she likes in a guy, but sadly in her current lover, she sees nothing in him. “We've got all the ingredients except you loving me,” means if the relationship was cake then it is missing an important “ingredient” like love in the relationship. In the song, she used the chorus “I'm not a piece of cake for you to just discard, While you walk away with the frosting of my heart, So I'm taking back what's mine, you'll miss the slice of heaven that I gave to you last night,” she is saying she is not a piece of cake where the lover can just take the frosting and throw the rest away. She also uses this verse because as we all know when kids get a cake or a cupcake they usually take the icing off first and end up throwing away the rest. She doesn’t like how her lover is using her for her love or her “frosting” and not loving her for all she is. Saying that she is taking back “the slice of heaven that she gave him last night” also means that she is out of the relationship and will be taking her sex with her. That also goes with the fact that her lover is using her and not loving her as a whole. In another part of her song she says, “If I’m just a piece of cake...then you’re just a piece of meat to me”, what she means by that is sweet and salty doesn’t mix and her lover is the salty one while she thinks she is preferable or more desirable.

I think the song is about a boy who loves the girl and the girl loves him back but the boy treats her like trash. When it says "I'm not a piece of cake for you to just Discard while you walk away with the frosting of my heart" it means that the boy doesn't care about her he just takes her love and doesn't love her back. when it says "So I'm taking back what mine You'll miss the slice of heaven that I gave to you last night" it probably means that they're breaking up and they're OVER

This song is about crybaby falling in love with a boy that ends up taking advantage of her. He uses crybaby for sex and her body. She feels like he is for her but she also feels like he is wrong and bad. Sorry if this sounded like a bad explanation

Hi, Abigail Castillo here, I think this song means Melanie is saying she loves this boy I don't know who but she knows he doesn't like her back she's saying either to love her or she will leave him.

Crybaby is in love with a boy who only likes her for sex. She thought they could be good together (we've got all the ingredients except you loving/needing me), but because he only loves what she can give him she breaks it off (if it wasn't already). Referring to him as a "piece of meat" (bland, common as hell, easily replaceable) and herself as a "piece of cake" (sweet, one-in-a-million) she tells him that basically he's lost out on something special.
-
Crybaby fell in love with a guy, but he’s just using her for his body. He seems perfect on paper but in reality, he’s just a f*ckboy who doesn’t really care about her. In the line “if I am just a piece of cake, then you’re just a piece of meat to me,” Crybaby is saying that she now sees him with just as little value as he sees her.
-
Cake is about Crybaby's boyfriend just using her for sex. He doesn't truly love her and she uses cake as a metaphor by saying "I'm not a piece of cake" is saying he can't just have sex with her and leave.
-
Crybaby was taken advantage of by a boy, who only wanted to break her heart. She suspected that he didn't really love her, and felt like a part of her was missing. She sticks up for herself, saying she's not 'a piece of cake' that he could just discard after 10 minutes and take 'the frosting of her heart'. So she's taking back everything she said and tells him he'll miss her.
