Muse: Thoughts of a Dying Atheist Meaning
Thoughts of a Dying Atheist Lyrics
trapped beneath my pillow
won't let me sleep
your memories
I know you're in this room
I'm sure I heard you sigh
floating in-between
where our worlds collide
It scares the hell out of me
when the end is all I can...
-
I don't think anyone wouldnt be afraid to die, and if he's saying that he's not afraid he's lying... not including very few special exceptions.
Even if you believe in god -
I think it is more along the lines of the biggest fear among people is the unknown..
an atheist doesn't know what is going to happen to them...
and it scares the hell out of anyone -

Seriously, the second poster could not be any more wrong. The song is about a person who is dying, possibly cancer or something like it that basically gives him a countdown to his death, and now that he has to think about his life ending he realizes how his Atheist lifestyle may not give him an afterlife. It scares the hell out of him, the things he is forced to consider now that he will soon be dead. He's afraid of what may be to come. No, the band is not telling its listeners to find God or religion. They are merely giving the listener a glimpse of the inside of a person's mind. Many people that become soldiers soon find God. Coincidence? You can be the judge of that.

This song is about, well, the thoughts of a dying atheist. This Atheist (not beleiving in a God) is dying and because they do not believe in a God there is no afterlife that they know of. Therefore, when they pass away, their life is over and everything for them will stop there. That is my guess for this song...
