My Chemical Romance: You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison Meaning
You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison Lyrics
In the center of a restaurant
They say come with your arms raised high
Well they're never gonna get me
I'm like a bullet through a flock of doves
To wage
This war against your faith in me
Your life will never...

To jealousyellowstar, you are the biggest most insensitive freakin jackass! I don't care if you are gay straight or bi no one ever wants to get raped. It is a total invasion of privacy and causes peoply to go into depression, ruins self esteem, and just totaly skrews with you. To all of you who are fightin over wether gerard and the other band members are gay bi or straight, IT DOESN'T MATTER!! These are people who don't deserve to have every part of their lives analized by a bunch of people online. Their sexuality is their own buisness and they deserve the same privacy that we have. besides it shouldn't matter what their sexuality is if you like ther music. just listen to it and don't worry about their personal lives. I am a huge MCR fan and think the guys seem really nice and down to earth, and I love their music. I do know that gerard did have a lot of trouble with drugs and drinking a couple of years ago but as far as I know he is doin good now, but I don't think that has anything to do with the song.
-
Okay, so most of you kids out there are WRONG. Gerard has never been to prison, nor is he gay, nor is anyone in the band gay. Gerard has a girlfriend, and is getting engaged, Ray has a girlfriend, Frank is married, Mikey just proposed, and Bob is currently single. This is about the misfortunes of prison, in their words. As I said, no one in the band has actually been in prison, this is just their own interpretation.
I should know.
I met them.
And I talked to them about what each song means.
Thank you very much, skanks. -
Why wouold you care if he was gay or not, you should let people be the way they want to be and accept them for it.
-
OMFG this is a song interpretation, not a call Gerard gay place. I am not an expert but this song is talking about prison rape and how other people treat them becuase there "weirdos" and that's it this song dosent say that gerard likes rape I agree with other people dosent madder if you like sex, it's still painful when its rape it screws up your mind!
-
I would like to say that gerard is not gay! He is an amazing guy and I love the band, their music is amazing!
-
He is not fucking gay! His girlfriend is Katmandu! (lucky) He is supposedly bisexual, but that's a rumour him and the band all pretend to be gay just for kicks lol.
-
I was watching an interview he did and he said it was about someone raping a guy in prison. It's sad. NONE I repeat NONE of the band members are gay. Just leave them to get on with their music, It's good music so what should it matter what it's about?!?!
-
Idiots who are shouting he's not gay like there's something to be ashamed of in being gay fck you.
I don't know his sexuality, but rape is horrible whether you're a gay man, straight man, lesbian, straight woman or bi man or woman. It still hurts, it's still an invasion of privacy as well as a whole lot of other stuff and it screws with your head and body.
No, you can't be 'turned' gay. If you're in prison a long time you might figure out your sexuality or if you're straight it'll just be a time of celebacy (sp?)
I'm not an expert on the song but I DO know sexuality and I just wanted to clear up the homophobic ideas that were being talked about. -
Jealousyellowstar, your comment was SO immature. I am a straight girl, but I still wouldn't like to be raped by a bunch of guys that have been in prison for the last twenty years. What makes you think that he would enjoy that? He is not even gay. I think it is kind of an inside joke with the band.
-
"jealousyellowstar" You do not deserve MCR Go lisen to N*SYNC if you are like that.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
GERARD IS NOT GAY! He has a girlfriend the only one that's single is Ray and it's not like Ray is gay because none of them are. Frankie's girlfriend's name is Jamia. Gerard's girlfriend's name is Olivia. Mikey's girlfriends name is Alishia, and I don't know Bob's girlfriend's name. None of them are gay.
-
First of all...GERARD IS NOT NOT NOT NOT GAY!!!! This song is about Gerard's experience with homosexuality, where, in a game of Truth or Dare, he kissed Bert McCracken. And it's just about their friendship. ah durrr.
-
Woah, chill out everyone. Bert doesn't even talk to Gerard anymore, or anyone in MCR (though the rest of the guys in The Used do). They had a nice little fall out, and now don't really like each other, so there is no fucking way that they are dating. I stand behind what everyone else has been saying, and this song is about prison rape. Fun, happy stuff.
