Nickelback: Lullaby Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Lullaby Lyrics
Of finding yourself stuck out on the ledge
And there ain't no healing
From cutting yourself with the jagged edge
I'm telling you that
It's never that bad
And take it from someone who's been where you're at
Laid out...
-
in my opinion, it is about suicide and tryng to tell the person that it's not as bad as they think.
Look at the first verse-
Well I know the feeling
Of finding yourself stuck out on the ledge- (possibly about to jump)
And there ain't no healing
From cutting yourself with the jagged edge-(possible slitting the wrists)
I'm telling you that
It's never that bad -(reassuring them it isnt as bad as they think)
And take it from someone who's been where you're at
Laid out on the floor
And you're not sure
You can take this anymore- (possibly not being able to take life anymore)
This is just my view on the song but hey! im not nickelback i'm just a fan -
may i just say that i absolutely love this song. it helps me. thanks nickelback. this song is about people having troubles and who are struggling with something. he is saying that their is hope. he is saying that he knows you are hurt but you can get better. he gets it. when he says "just give it one more try to a lullaby" he means to keep holding on and NEVER give up. its a powerful song. ypu are not alone. their are others who are by your side. <3

I believe it is a song about suicide and that no one should have to give up because they aren't alone and they just need to find the right personto talk to about it
-
I took this song very personally. Like they are reaching out to anyone and everyone in a bad place. You can't listen to the lyrics and hear the passion without thinking about someone you may know (even you) who is on the verge of giving up on life. If a struggling person hears this song, it speaks to them. It brought me to tears while I was driving when I first heard it. Because Chad's right. Giving up isn't the answer. And you're not alone, no matter how much it might seem like it.
-
I would say that he is reaching out to anyone and everyone who is having a hard time. When he references "honey" it si to keep the flow of the song and it makes the most sence at that part of the song. Overall it is to anyone that is stuggling.
-
its about when chad and mike were young they had a babysitter over and her boyfriend was involed in a car crash, what i heard anyway.
-
I think what I remember from an interview that it is about when chad and mike were younger and they were being babysat and the babysitters boyfriend died is what I remember from it
-
To my inferences, he is talking to a particular person. Someone that he knows is struggling. Whether it's a girlfriend or a family member, someone is not answering the phone..
He tells 'her' to turn this song up on the radio, if she hears it.
Then he offers advice saying, "You're not alone. I've been in this situation before, I know how you feel - I know how you feel like giving up - but give it one more try."
Then he gives advice to everyone - if you've hit the bottom, been forgotten, tired of being alone, and been empty-handed - just give it one more try.
Moral of this song, don't let the past bring you down. If you fail at something, if you lose a relationship, just try once more. We all have struggles. We know what you go through. We have all been there and we can all relate.
Remember, 'the greater the struggle - the more glorious the triumph.' -
I think its about people not needing to commit suicide which is true and this song is going out to people who think about it to make them stop:)
-
I think that the song is about a guy singing to his really good friend or someone he really cares about and trying to talk them out of commiting suicie. Like the part where he says that he is scared as hell because your not picking up the phone.
-
i think that this song is about someone being bullied hence "take it from some one who's been where your at". i also do think that chad is trying to help the person(s) not feel bad about the problem hence "And please let me take you
Out of the darkness and into the light
'Cause I have faith in you
That you're gonna make it through another night
Stop thinking about
The easy way out
There's no need to go and blow the candle out
Because you're not done
You're far too young
And the best is yet to come". and i also do think that this song is for the prevention of suicide/bullying hence the lyrics above -
I got something about suicide. Its very inspiring.

Think of this as a sequel to "Savin' Me." In "Savin' Me" Chad sings about being out on an edge, feeling hopeless, but he go through that, hence the beginning of the song, "I know the feeling of finding yourself stuck out on a ledge." Know Chad is on the other side of that difficulty and he's offering his advice now to someone else, or even to all of his fans. Although it is pretty clear that he is talking about a particular person because he mentions not being able to reach her on the telephone (I say her because he calls her honey). But yet he even mentions turning up the radio, which leads me to believe that he is in fact talking to everyone and the one person in particular at the same time.
Anyway, in the bridge (the verse inbetween the last two choruses) Chad says that everyone's been in a tough spot, and offers to those who are "barely hanging on" to give it one more try. He says turn up the radio if you can here him, he's reaching out to those of us in need.
This song is a lullaby, for everyone who needs it and for all of us who know someone who needs it. It's our own personal lullaby from Chad Kroeger and the rest of Nickelback -
My interpretation is that a father is singing to his daughter when she is having a rough time. and he has sung her a lullaby to ease whatever pain comes her way
