Oasis: Listen Up Meaning
Listen Up Lyrics
Whats the time said today
Im gonna speak my mind
Take me up
To the top of the world
I wanna see my crime
Day by day
Theres a man in a suit
Whos gonna make you pay
For the thoughts
That you...

I think he starts saying that conservative or religious people may judge for whatever(the man in the suit) so he has bittersweet feelings about society (one fine day gonna leave you all behind but i dont really want to go yet). He is looking for his place in life/society(back home) but he understands that there is no superior force(magic(god)) to judge him nor to watch over him, and he is ok with it.
Basically I think he is saying god doesn't exist. -
I think it’s about suicide or having suicidal thoughts.

It's about religion, god. He finally's gonna speak his mind about it,take me up to the top of the world i wanna see my crime, he wanna see really what he did wrong, sarcastic,he feels that if you really think about it he never did nothing that bad,day by day there is a man who's gonna make you pay,for everything that you did ,or even think,it's god. He knows someday he is gonna die,he wish he had more time, salling down the river=life,i've been trying to find my way back home, trying to find his place in this life,he doeasn't belive in magic,in miracles ,life happens automatic, coincidenses, not somebody up there is making the world spin, and after all if he thinks about it like that, than he doeasn't have anybody else there, for him,but he doeasn't mind being on his own. Sorry about my grammar.

Basically I think this songs underlining meaning is about the government and censorship, mainly because the words relate to a man in a suite possibly referring to the government "Day by day There's a man in a suit Who's gonna make you pay For the thoughts That you think and the words They won't let you say". In other words people are not allowed to stand up and speak out without there being consequences. "I don't believe in magic Life is automatic But I don't mind being on my own". Not believing in "magic" and saying that "life is automatic" may suggest that people have become consumed by the fact that their words and thoughts are no longer taken into account by the government etc."I don't mind being on my own" refers to a sense of isolation and not counting for nothing, basically meaning your just another brick in the wall, the songs title says it all...LISTEN UP!
